iOS Email Setup Guide
General: This guide is a step-by-step walkthrough for setting up email on an iOS device for a
University of Cincinnati employee. This guide is only attended for University faculty or staff
with UCMail email accounts.
Guide Requirements:
iOS Device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch)
Internet Access
UC Faculty or Staff email account (UCMail)
On the main menu, locate the Settings icon and click it.
Click Settings
The screen should now look similar to the picture below. Locate the Mail, Contacts, Calendars
option on the left panel.
Click Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Now Click Add Account…
Click Add Account…
Click on Microsoft Exchange
Click Microsoft Exchange
A popup window will appear. Type your UCMail email account in the 6+2@ucmail.uc.edu
form. Even if you typically give out your alias (firstname.lastname@uc.edu), for now use your
official email address. The password is your UC password.
Type your UC username, and add @ucmail.uc.edu to the end of it here.
For the description, fill out whatever you’d like the account to be referred to as. It is left as
the default, Exchange, in the example below, but you could put a more descriptive name like
Work Email or UCMail. When you are ready, click Next.
Type your email, password, and
description and click Next.
After a moment, new fields will appear on the pop-up window.
New text fields will appear.
Fill out the additional text fields as shown in the picture below. Use your own username and
password. Click Next when you are ready.
Server: ucmail.uc.edu
Domain: ad
Username: UC username (6+2)
When you are ready, click Next.
Now select what items you’d like to sync with your iOS device. Then click Save.
Choose what you’d
like to sync, and then
press Save.
When you arrive back to this screen, you will notice a new accounts listed. Congratulations,
you have just setup your UCMail account with your iOS device.
The email account has been setup and
will start downloading your messages
shortly.
