IRM Monthly Progress Report Volume, 66 Issue: 01/19 Jan, 2019 Nov, 2018
USAID - Pakistan Reading Project (PRP) Balochistan 72 QTIG Meetings (Cohort-2) and 84 Monthly TIG Meetings (Cohort-3) were conducted during the month of January 2019. 172 School support visits were conducted under Cohort -3 by SSAs while 120 School support visits were conducted under Cohort -3 by Mentors. Other activities included the conduction of Student progress monitoring in all the targeted districts along with the distribution of TLM in cohort 3 districts. The students’
Performance Monitoring Tool-3 for grade 2 was administered in cohort 1 & 2 districts while the students’ Performance Monitoring Tool-2 for grade 1 was administered in cohort-III districts. The TLM committee also revised grade kachi Urdu language textbooks for Balochistan in the context of newly introduced techniques for Urdu reading.
Newly Merged Tribal District During the month of January, the Assessment Manager and Professional Development Officer participated in a meeting on “formative assessment of Grade-2 and 4 students” organized by Directorate of Education NMTB. The field staff organized capacity building sessions on TIG meetings and
DRLP steps. Furthermore, preparatory meetings were held in field offices for upcoming trainings / orientations. The program team also participated in 7-days orientation “on Grade-II material” organized by central PRP team in Islamabad.
Sindh Union Council and Community Economic Strengthening Support Project (SUCCESS) IRM is implementing the three year EU/NRSP funded SUCCESS project in four Districts of Sindh (Matiari, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Sujawal.) During the month of January, 25 Participants Graduated in Car Driving, 32 in Applique Work, 16 in Machine
Embroidery, 16 in Hijab Making, 34 in Tailoring & Dress Designing, 113 in Dress Designing Advance, 87 in Baby Dress Designing, 33 in Crochet Work and 54 Participants graduated in Hand Embroidery Training.
‘Strengthening Civil Society Organizations’ Project IRM in collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute (Civic Initiative) is currently implementing a one year ‘Strengthening Civil Society Organizations Project’ funded by the U.S. State Department. The project aims to improve the organizational capacity of Pakistani Civil Society Organizations/NGO’s while, at the same time improving ties between Pakistan and the United States through programming that highlights shared values and promotes
bilateral cooperation. Last month, a total of 29 participants from the selected CSO’s were trained in two-day workshop on “Training of CSO’s on Effective Communication Strategies & Change Management.” A questionnaire was also prepared to assess and further shortlist 22 out of 29 organizations that participated in the training and to identify their need for upcoming training workshop
Punjab Youth Workforce Development Project (PYWD)
IRM in partnership with Louis Berger is currently implementing this USAID funded project in Southern Punjab. The main objective of this project is to enhance the capacity of the selected rural youth beneficiaries from Districts Multan, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh and Bahawalpur, through market driven technical and vocational trainings
and apprenticeship programme to generate monthly income at house hold level as well as capacity building of local public TVET institutes. During the month of January, 77 participants graduated Entrepreneurship Training. 47 Participants graduated in Commercial Tailoring and 30 in Beautician Advance Training
.
VTEC Azakhel IRM recently implemented one-month wool knitting and one-month quilt and bed spread making skills training for women from North Waziristan and Khyber Tribal Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The project was funded by Islamic Relief Pakistan. A total of 75
women are being trained under this project. 50 Participants graduated in the trade of Quilt & Bed Spread making and 25 graduates in Wool Knitting training.
IRM Sindh: SEF-AALTP (Learning & Training Components):
This project aims to provide accelerated formal primary education for vulnerable adolescents and basic functional literacy for adults together with a certified skill development vocational training course for each learner, enabling them with varying opportunities of human capital development and socio economic growth. A total of 1829
learners are currently enrolled in the programme. During the month of January, 313 participants are currently enrolled in advance tailoring, beautician, solar installation, computer skills, hand embroidery, livestock management training trades.
Other Projects A total of 100 participants are enrolled in (Electrician, RAC, mobile repairing, Mason, Motorcycle repair training trades
under the NAVTTC - PMYSDP Phase-IV (Residential training).
