COUNTRY is the phytodepuration system designed by ISEA which utilizes the horizontal subsurface flow method for domestic sewage treatment. Pretreated wastewater is evenly distributed into absorbent trays where emergentrooted hydrophytes perform their natural phytodepuration process. The absorbent trays are watertight containers made of high density polyethylene with the typical truncated pyra-mid shape. Each tray has an absorbent bed area of 2 m² and is designed to serve one equivalent inhabitant. The absorbent trays are installed underground and filled with gravel and stones on the bottom, followed by a layer of geotextile and compost. The phytodepuration systems are particularly suitable for small residential communities not connected to the sani-tary sewer network. The system does not include any electrical equipment and requires very little maintenance.
• A BIOLOGICAL IMHOFF tank for pretreatment of black waters;• A GREASE TRAP for pretreatment of gray waters;• A MANHOLE (35.5 cm x 80cm) with cover for inspection;
which is equivalent to the average daily flow;• A FINAL MANHOLE (35.5 cm x 80cm) with cover for inspection.

Certified Quality System
Dig holes to accommodate the Biological Imhoff tank and the Grease Trap as described intheir specific technical papers. For the absorbent trays dig a perfectly horizontal trench 80 to 120 cm deep and wide enoughto allow the installation. Place on the bottom of the trench a layer of compacted fine sand (0-5 mm) or other inert material and install the absorbent trays and relevant piping.
EXCAVATION
FILLING Fill the Biological Imhoff Tank and the Grease Trap with water.
START UP
Periodically remove and dispose of the contents of the Grease Trap and the Biological Imhoff tank.
