About

Avec Chic, originated in French, means in an elegant manner. I started Avec Chic because of a need to share my dreams, my goals and my stories. I am Chinese born and raised, but 3 years ago, an opportunity came for me to study in England where this whole adventure started.

Days in England have been incredible and I feel very happy and honored to share with you some of my experiences which still inspire me throughout the time.

Finishing my Fashion Management courses in UK, I worked as a fashion buyer; then, a fashion editor.

Now, I’m a part-time BLOGGER and a full-time DREAMER.

Editor's Letter

To a great extent, i f not entirely, the digital sphere defines current times. In that regard, fashion bloggers are becoming power players in fashion media.

Fashion critic Robin Givhan believed "The golden era o f ‘ fash ion b logg ing ’ i s over”. While Anna Wintour "embrace bloggers and video and social networking”.

Yet, unarguably, those style bloggers, with differently-edited contents in their own niche, provide us with new ways to look at and to think about fashion and style.

A ser ies o f h igh-pro f i le style blogs were selected in this issue, and you are going to gain a bit deeper understanding of them.

Blogging Moments:

Style blogging has had a relatively short lifespan. In the beginning, bloggers were not always welcomed by some of the industry insiders.

Since the 21st century, however, bloggers changed that situation gradually.

By 2008, Marc Jacobs had named a handbag after Bryanboy, who created the template of the self-referential fashion blogger when he began kibitzing online in 2004.

In 2009, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana seeded their front row with Bryanboy, Tommy Ton, Schuman, and Garance

Doré, who were expected to live-blog the show.

In the same year, the Sartorialist partnered with Burberry on Art of Trench, which is a living document of the trench coat and the

people who wear it, created by Burberry.

Industry Insiders Say

"Style blogging has rapidly developed from a series of disconnected online fanzines to become an integral part of the fashion business."

- William OliverContributor of SHOWstudio

"We love as much coverage of fashion as possible. We don't care at all where it comes from, and we embrace bloggers and video and social networking, and anyone that's talking about fashion is a good thing. And we now have our own website that incorporates all of that. But I think what's interesting to us with this new phenomenon that 'everyone's a fashion editor, everyone's a fashion writer' is that all of that actually helps Vogue, because we have access and the understanding of fashion that, forgive me, but maybe some bloggers and some of the newcomers to this world have a little bit less experience of, but as I said, the more the merrier. We embrace it."

- Anna WintourEditor-in-chief of Vogue magazine
