Sail-Away Meet UpCruise Connections Party
Back to Home
sail-away Meet UpWe will meet in the Sunset Bar on Lawn Deck (15) at the aft end of the ship immediately after the muster/lifeboat drill in Dublin if you are onboard and not touring. Plan on meet-ing everyone for the first time on board.
Here is a deck map that shows you where to meet.
I will have name tags for you. Look for me, Kathleen, Bob, Holly, Jamie and Steve (first three Reflectors on the next page).

Meet here for the SailAway Get Together immediately after the
muster drill!
cRUise-connections paRtyCruise Connections Party–You must register before we sail! If you get to your cabin and you don’t find an invitation make sure and ask other Roll Call members at the Sail-Away get together to find out the time and location. You can also call Guest Relations.
As of the last time I checked before today we had well over 100 people registered so we will undoubtedly have a Connections Party and although there is NO WAY to predict pre-cruise when or where it will be, the likelihood that it will be on Wednesday, June 5 in the morning in a fairly large venue, historically that would be the Sky Observation Lounge on the Lido Deck (14).

We are in our mid-sixties. Kathleen is retired after 22+ years as an insurance underwriter and is working part-time as a travel consultant. I own my own business that produces niche products for the high school yearbook industry as well as working as a travel consultant with Expedia Cruise Ship Centers.
Kathleen and I met on the Internet more than 20 years ago and we each have kids from previous marriages. Kathleen a daughter and Jim has one of each, a son and a daughter. Our hobbies include travel, theater, film, reading and for me, cooking and photography. If you are ever in Seattle, I would love to cook for you. There is nothing either of us would rather be doing than sailing with any of our cruising pals except maybe being with our grandkids.

Holly & I are in our mid 50s. Holly is a Budget Analyst for the Department of Defense (33 years) & I’m a retired Navy Air Traffic Controller (34 years). I meet precious few other Sailors who pay to go on cruises J. We met when Holly was a volunteer at the USO.
We firmly believe that exploration of other cultures is fatal to small-mindedness (Mark Twain, ‘The Innocents Abroad’, 1867).
My second passion is independent filmmaking. I take a fair amount of gear on our trips (I don’t let tech get in the way of fun) to document travel & blog, taking about 2 months to turn that media into a film. Ask me anything about pre/post production- I’m happy to assist.
Holly’s other passions include cooking & photography. She takes most of our close-up shots (& quite well).

We have been on four past cruises to Alaska, the British Isles, and the Fall Foliage cruise to New England and Canada—all on Celebrity and we loved the experience. Jamie is a public school teacher (working in the district office) and Steve is in engineering working for Boeing. We met at a tall club dance (Steve is 6’8” and Jamie is 6’2”) in the 1980’s. We have two chil-dren; a son and a daughter- in college who is coming with us (along with Jamie’s sister, her husband and their daughter).
Hobbies and interests include movies, travel, home improvement; and photography, garden-ing, computers, and electronics for Steve; and cooking, baking – competitively (county fair), and Disney for Jamie.

We are both retired, Nancy from nursing as an RN for 40 years and me from the Space Program after 32 years. We have 3 children and 7 grandchildren. We love living in a small beachside community between the ocean and the river (except during hurricane season).
We have traveled extensively, both cruises and land trips.
This will be our 8th Celebrity cruise and includes a B2B on the Reflection May 26 to Norway. Cruising offers the opportunity to see several places from one central location. At the same time, meeting new folks and enjoying their company adds to the attraction.

We are both retired in our early 60’s. Carolyn is a retired Teacher and I am a retired Banker/Financial Planner. We have two children both living and working abroad; one in England and the other in China. We are fortunate to be able to travel several times per year, which may be any combination of road trip, land trip or cruise. Our pre-cruise plans are not specific yet; however, we will most likely spend some time in England or Scotland with 4 or 5 days in and around Dublin to re-visit some areas where we didn’t spend enough time previously. For similar, like minded individuals I enjoy a good single malt, frequently accompanied by a good cigar. I may be found at the Sunset bar late evenings.
We are stopping in Reykjavik on May 29 for a 2 day stopover. We are just going to spend some time in Reykjavik to explore and enjoy some of the food and culture. All of the tours we have booked are long days and we probably wouldn’t get a chance to see the city.

This will be our 7th cruise on Celebrity, 8th overall, but we also enjoy land travel as well. We have been to Dublin before, but may fly in a week or more early to do a little exploring around Ireland. We are looking for-ward to having our first taste of Iceland! We generally prefer small private tours rather than the ship-sponsored ones, and have enjoyed meeting fellow cruisers and making new friends.

We are doing a Princess cruise before this visiting Bordeaux and Northern Spain followed by a week in Ireland. We are then flying to Florence to join our daughter and her husband for a week of cooking in Tuscany.
We love to share private tours and have met many amazing friends over the years who we have shared private tours on lots of cruises.
Looking forward to experiencing the beauty of Iceland on this cruise.

We’re also off to see Derry and Giants Causeway in Country Antrim. Then.....this cruise!

This will be our 5th cruise for my husband, children and myself. But the first time on Celebrity for all of us!
We love adventures, meeting new people, exploring new places. This is the first time to Iceland for all of us, and the first trip to Europe for my kids. Kathleen and I split our time between Atlanta and Belfast, Maine. One daughter lives in each place plus a son in San Francisco. Given an airline/aviation background, we have traveled a lot, though cruising is a relatively new experience for us.
Our first extensive ocean voyage was in 2015 on X’s Equinox from Barcelona to Ft Lauderdale. Last Summer, we were on the Constellation from Venice to the Adriatic, Sicily and Naples. Both were great times, which is why we are on the Reflection. We enjoy small ground excur-sions and meeting people traveling with us.

We love to travel/cruise, and we enjoy great food and wine. We always travel with our daugh-ter on our adventures, we love to share tour experiences with her.
I would, in the past, say we are runners, but to be honest, I am going to have to go with joggers... and sometimes walkers at this point.
We are booked in a suite right now at a ridiculous price. We have a refundable deposit, and may be changing cabins to a veranda or CC if the price does not drop.

Love cruising. Been on 35 or do. Recently on the new Edge inaugural as well as the Sympho-ny. 3 adult children, 6 grandkids, oldest 7 youngest 5 days! Like reading, trying local drinks in each place I visit no going to happy hour every week with friends. I’m a newer travel agent, 5 years this time around....did it before for a while but needed a different job. We’ll be in Dublin 3 full days and nights prior to cruise. Looking at going to the Cliffs of Moher and Ring of Kerry via day trip since we won’t have time in Cobb to do the ring. No iceland tours yet. Like smaller size tours....right now there are 4 of us ...hope to find a couple more to join.
My room mate Deana Lane will be joining me. Friends Bill and Cookie Giar will also be joining.

Our daughter will be studying music history in Salzburg this June. We wanted to visit her, and spoiled ourselves by booking 2 cruises: one before, and one after.
I’m a former elementary teacher, and Tim is a soon-to-be-retired fire investigator. We cruised on the beautiful Reflection in 2017 while celebrating my 50th birthday, the college gradua-tion of our oldest (now a history teacher) and the high school graduation of the future music teacher we will be visiting in Austria. We also have a son who will be a rising high school senior this summer.
Our favorite type of travel is RV, and we’ve taken the kids to 49 US states that way. We five have also visited all 50 state capitals and well over 100 National Park Service sites.

We love cruising and have been on over 20 cruises, our favourite line being Celebrity but we are willing to try anything once. We have been married 46 years and have 2 grown up children. We are both retired and are traveling with Daves sister, Joan , who is a widow and is also retired . We do not do ships tours preferring to join other CCers but due to our lateness in booking this cruise we may be struggling to join up as most people seem to have their plans made. We do not always book late , we are going on the Edge TA later this year and nxt year we are booked on Solstice for Great Barrier Reef and Tonga and Fiji .

We are having a very good run at retired life. Bob is a former newspaper executive and Merle was a clothing sales rep. Married 33 years, we have four children between us and four grand-children pretty much spread across the country.
We enjoy traveling very much, usually taking 3 long trips a year. We were avid RVers for 14 years while living in AZ but transitioned to cruising more since moving to the Nashville area. We enjoy the abundant theater and music scene here as well as the beauty of middle TN.
As our SCUBA days have wained river and ocean cruising have become our favorite form of travel enrichment. X has become our predominant ocean line and Viking our preferred river line.

We are former English teachers living in retirement bliss on the family farm. We share our house with 22 cats, which is a lot weirder than it sounds. Kind of. Son Robbie lives with us, as he has Down syndrome. Daughter Shae lives with her husband & 2 children in South Bend. Daughter Katie & her husband live in LA.
As much as we love being home, we also love to travel. I am an amateur genealogist, & for the past 7 years, I’ve been trying to find the birthplace of my 2x great grandmother, who immigrated from Ireland to the US in the late 1800s.
This cruise will be our first trip alone since our honeymoon, and we’re excited about it. We’re generally pretty quiet people, but we’re looking forward to meeting all of you on our grand adventure.

We both are retired from the healthcare industry.
For us, this will be the second leg of a B2B after the May 26 Norway cruise.

I am traveling with three friends; Avis Swenson, Tarina Rasmussen, Verner Rasmussen
I am a fairly frequent traveled by profession and great food, wine & photography figure prominently in my travels. I was originally traveling with a larger group on this sailing & we whittled down to just 4 of us, so my perfectly designed private 4 night pre-stay in Dublin & the countryside is in the process of an overhaul! We do want to get out of the city for a few nights and head to the Cliffs of Moher & Galway for some cobblestones, nature and castles. In the real world, I hail from Chicago & am passionate about Cats (thus the screen name) and serve actively on a non-profit board here in Florida for many years dedicated to providing for the kitties who are less fortunate than my spoiled ones! Look forward to meeting you on board!

Love to cruise and travel. Both of us have retired within the last couple of years. We have 2 grown children, 4 grand kids (3 boys-1 girl) we are all currently living in the same town. Ston-ington, Ct. We also have 2 kitties, Katie and Allie, who pretty much control our home with their demands! We purchased a “snowbird” home in Florida in 2016 so Chuck didn’t have to shovel any more snow. His motto now is “you don’t have to shovel sunshine.” Martha retired from the University of Connecticut, Avery Point campus, as the Campus Registrar. Chuck retired from the Connecticut Dept of Labor as a Career Specialist. We will be flying into Ireland for a few days in advance of the cruise, still making plans on hotels.

We both love to travel. Before retiring in 2008 Ken was very fortunate to have a job that took us to many areas of the world. Since then we have discovered cruising as way to see more of the world in tidy chunks of time from a single venue. Been cruising with Celebrity and RC around the world for the past 11 years.
We enjoy 4 active grandchildren We both love to swim, dance and occasionally sing (amazing what a drink or two can do!). Karen likes to play a friendly game of bridge. Ken is the tech nerd but photography and VR is his passion.
Looking forward to meeting up on board.

Since retirement we have cruised a number of times, mostly with Celebrity, and have also taken several land tours. In September we are sailing on the Constellation from Newark to Quebec City and back, and we have just booked the Eclipse to Antarctica next January.

We enjoy traveling and have been on at least 20 cruises on multiple lines. The longer the trip the better :). My husband, Giuliano Hazan, is a noted Italian food educator and we have a cooking school in Italy which we will be going to right after this cruise. I’m pleased to say that our school was just named by Forbes as a Top 5 foodie destination in Italy. In addition to enjoying food and wine, we are interested in connecting with people and learning about the culture of a place.
This will be our first time in Ireland and Iceland and we are very excited. We look forward to meeting all of the wonderful people who will be on this experience.

oUR MapAs long as I can remember I have loved maps and once Google Maps came along I made good use of them. Here’s a map of where we all live (as of 5/8/2019). I did not include any of the people who did not give me an exact city name or anyone who does not post on Cruise Critic. If you have an Internet connection, you can click the map below to go to the actual Google map. This map is not the actual map. The text will not scroll. To do that, you need to be online and click the map to see the actual map on Google Maps. The map below is just a big button.
