Playing the Writing Game

Westbury Leigh Primary School

Using games as a contextual hub

It’s aims were:-

To extend/improve boy’s vocabulary through use of computer games (AF7)

To engage boys

To use immersive environments to enrich learning

Why use games?

My Word Coach is amazing for us to learn from. The harder we work the

more things we end up unlocking which means more learning. Yay!!

It helps us with our vocabulary because my word coach is a mix of spelling, finishing sentences and

openers. It’s really good because we are learning without knowing because we are having fun.

Night at the Museum

I think the Wii helps to improve our

learning by us being able to interact with

our topic, and not just watching or us being read to, so we have a lot more fun while we

are learning new things.

The Wii helps with our learning by helping us work as a team and also by seeing

how well we get along together.

Using the Wii means that you

don’t get bored of sitting around

watching videos and reading books you can just play

and learn.

JanI liked the Wii a lot

because it helped me feel as if I

was there. The words

popped into my head as

we were playing. It was great

fun.
