THE ANNUAL MEETING

The Eleventh Annual Meetings of the Lepidopterists ' Society will be held August 7-10,1961, a t the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, 27 mi les north of Gunnison, Gunnison County, Colorado. The Meetings a r e scheduled for several days immediately following the regular labor, tory session, A few cabins with cots , pillows and blankets will be available a t nominal cost . Excellent camp si tes and simple hotel facilities a r e nearby, There will be a cooperative m e s s -

hall arrangement for m e a l s , Bring heavy clothing, a s the August nights in this a r e a a r e - cold. The Laboratory i s located a t 9500 f t , , near treeline, in a pass between two mountain

m a s s e s . Both scenery and collecting a r e spectacular, The meeting schedule will be flexible, so that good days can be spent in the field. Fur ther details will appear in future numbers of the NEWS. Pre l iminary indications a r e that there will be a fine turnout. Bring your collecting equipment, trading m a t e r i a l and bug s tor ies , and join the fun:

T r e a s u r e r ' s Comment: 1. The t rend shown in the 1959 Statement continues: expenses a r e increasing a t a f a s t e r ra te than income. The 1961. dues increase was insufficient to offset the increased expenses of publication.

2. As in 1959, a m a j o r sha re of cu r ren t expenses a r e being borne by future income. Thus, the bulk of Volume 14 (1960) remains to be published and expensed, over half of which expense m u s t be borne by 1961 income. The increase in dues and subscription r a t e s for 1960 will naturally help to reduce this deficit.

3. There a r e no unpaid bills and no liabili t ies other than shown f o r Journa l and News - in p rocess .
