Hello, my name is James. Originally from New
Zealand, I have been working within fashion and
menswear for over five years, recently focusing on
larger campaigns that cover multiple channels. I
am experienced as a Graphic Designer, Photogra-
pher, Videographer and Art Director. Having start-
ed my creative career as a Photographer, my skills
are grounded in image making and I frequently
direct shoots and collaborate with third parties to
produce beautiful creative work. My photographic
background supports my great respect and admira-
tion for image making and it’s process, and informs
every creative venture.
Due to my broad knowledge base, I have an under-
standing of many disciplines and can, and enjoy
contributing this to my management and
participation with others on a project. I am experi-
enced in creating digital photography, digital video,
printed and digital design. My technical skills cover
Adobe Creative suite among others programmes.
I bring energy, drive and a fantastic eye. I will
always think of the larger picture and strive to
deliver it. I have a love for art, film and especially
music, of which I feel is the true birthplace of any
genre within fashion. Luxury fashion for me pro-
vides one of the greatest commercial realisations of
art, and I have a great desire to contribute to it.

Having created a successful visual language with
Autumn / Winter ’16, Drake’s required a punchier
statement for Spring / Summer, which is histor-
ically a harder season for the brand. To play off
the bold colours and patterns always present in
the collection, I set out to use art as a backdrop.
Abstract artist Ben Deakin’s surreal landscapes
presented a great pairing, and his artist studio
offered the rustic appeal that Drake’s has always
carried.
Imagery once again needed to be used across all
channels; the formal look-book, social imagery,
web assets and advertising. I also enlisted a video
production team to capture the action behind
the scenes, but endeavoured to create a film that
would compliment the collection as a whole, not
just reveal the inner workings of a menswear
shoot. I brought on electronic producer Paul
Brown from London band Zola Blood to compose
a piece for the film.

Drake’s Autumn/Winter ‘16 season was the first
head-to-toe collection for the brand; hats, shoes,
outerwear and trousers completed the estab-
lished offering of ties, shirts and jackets.
The brief called for a contemporary direction to
compliment the classic English style. Imagery
would need to be split over a Primary look-book
and campaign, social imagery and web assets. To
allow for this I organised to shoot over two days,
separating the main shots from the secondary
imagery. Each day had a distinct look and feel.
I designed digital and printed versions of the
look-book for press and customers respectively,
printed and digital adverts, and web assets from
the imagery collected. We also managed the
release of images over social to coincide with
product releases throughout the season.

Mr. StartAutumn / Winter
‘15
Mr. Start’s clothes have always been simple, so
the aim of this look-book was to show the details
of the cloth used to make each garment. The 70’s
feel of the patterns prompted me to use props and
colour to evoke the style of the decade. I decided
on still life in order to allow the clothes to speak
for themselves.
I produced both a digital and printed lookbook.

RAYNER AND STURGES

Photography
Rayner and Sturges are a shirt-making
company based in Somerset. In order to stand
out from their competitors, as a web presence
isn’t common amongst the garment industry,
Rayner & Sturges were looking to improve their
online identity. This simple website complete-
ly re-brands the company, offering a slicker
environment for their customers. This homepage
includes full bleed video.

Photography
I provided photography and graphic design for
womenswear brand Mint Velvet, including digital
design, product design and photography for
web assets and events. Mint Velvet’s aesthetic is
