BREAKFAST WITH SANTA was a huge success thanks to the hard work and
commitment of a dedicated group of parent volunteers, led by Cressida Barnabe & Mark
Wheeler. Thank you to the many volunteers who came to mix the batter, flip the pancakes,
peel the clementines, serve the pancakes and pour the syrup! Many hands made for what
appeared to be light work. The delicious pancakes were devoured by all the students who were
also treated to a surprise visit from Santa Claus. Thank you to Matthew Barnabe for his
generous donation of pancake mix, juice boxes, clementines, plates and cutlery. Thank you to
Stead’s, Temple’s, & Wheeler’s Maple Syrup for their generous donations of local Lanark maple
syrup.

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS
Congratulations to all of the kindergarten classes for their wonderful singing at their Christmas Concerts. Thank you to all four teachers who prepared the students for their performances. It’s always such a treat to see the young children performing on stage.
Thank you to everyone who came out to enjoy either a delightful afternoon or evening of music, drama & dance at our Primary Christmas Concert. The students are to be congratulated for their fine performances. Thank you to all the teachers for the work that they did in preparing the students. Each number had its own special quality and truly enhanced the personalities of each of the classes. The evening entertainment was a wonderful mix of old and new, French and
English. Every year, I think we hit a new level of sensational! BRAVO TOUT LE MONDE!
Special thanks to our outstanding MC’s & Recorder Ensemble, André Caya, Mayah Douglass-Cain, Makyala Hopper, Lucas Marr & Corbett Marsh. Thank you to our runners, Tessa Clark and Ellen Hutchings.
PD Day Wednesday,

Milk Subsidy ~ Pilot Program
We are excited to announce that the Dairy Farmers of Lanark County are piloting a milk subsidy program at Queen Elizabeth School. They have generously donated $500 which we will use to offset the cost
of our Milk Program for families in need. The February Milk Order will include an option for parents to purchase milk at a subsidized cost of $0.25/carton. Funds remaining from the donation will be applied towards the March Milk Order.
Thank you to our local Dairy Farmers!

WINTER CLOTHING REMINDER
BRRR! We kindly request that all students come adequately prepared for the winter weather. Please send hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, snowpants and boots.
Please make sure that all clothing and belongings are labelled with your child’s name, as this allows us to identify clothing that has made its way to the Lost and Found.
Also, please make sure that your child has a pair of shoes that can be worn inside and left at school. This ensures that classrooms stay dry, and helps to eliminate slippery floors.
QUEEN ELIZABETH SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL
Please join us for our next School Council Meeting:
Monday, February 25, 2013
6:15 to 7:15 p.m. in the QE Library
Childcare provided..
The QE staff would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents who put on a wonderful Christmas Lunch for us on Friday, December 21. We feel very blessed to have received such incredible support and compassion during what was a very difficult time. The snowstorm and bus cancellations did not stop people from dropping off home-made goodies for the lunch. We were all blown away by the abundance of goodies, salads, appetizers, soups and more! Special thanks to Jordan Kennie who personally looked after all the details, and even brought in both her mother and mother-in-law to help supervise students so the staff could all sit down together. Jordan magically transformed our school library into a warm and inviting holiday venue. She thought of everything from napkins, Christmas crackers, festive music, and fancy drinks. It really lifted our spirits, and we thoroughly enjoyed having quality time together as a staff before we dispersed for the holidays.
We thank all of you so very much for the time and effort you put into making our last day special. Your kindness was greatly appreciated.
Please keep children from sliding on the snow banks by the parking lot between 3:10 and 3:30 p.m.
Congratulations to both the Jr. Girls’ & Boys’ Volleyball Teams who competed at tournaments in December. Thank you to Mme Hopper for coaching both teams, and to the many parent volunteers who helped during practices and by driving students to the boys’ tournament.
