TRANSCRIPT

JARRET J. KROSOCZKAis the illustrator and author of manychildren’s books. For TED he came out and spoke about his beginnings as an author.

In his childhoodhe struggled with a mother whowas in and out of life due to adrug addiction and father whom he never met until hewas in high school.

In his childhoodhe knew he wanted to be a writer and an artist. All through out school he tried hard to be apart of any art class or art project.

Six months after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design he hadhis first book Goodnight, Monkey Boy by Knopf Books for Young Readers.

After that his career as a children’s book author began and since he’s made many successful works such as Punk Farm and the Lunch Lady graphic novel series.

He began his speech with a normal introduction with his name and occupation but begins his tale with “….my imagination saved my life.”

He told his story in way similarto how teachers read to children in school. Emphasizing the dramatic parts in his life.

Dynamism: 3/5  In his story telling Jarrett wasn’t very animated or excited but it didn’t determine the interest of his speech.

His story and delivery was very compelling and the way hetold it kept his audience very interested.

As Garr Reynolds suggests, Jarrett kept his presentation simple relying on his story telling and picturesto help keep things interesting.

Sir Ken Robinson and Jarrett’s styles in presentation were very much alike. They were simple and replied more on their words than actions tokeep everyone interested.

Sir Ken however often added a twist of comedy where as Jarrettused the aid of photos andwork he had done to help with his presentation.

I would suggest to others to focus on the content of your presentation. Visuals are wonderfully helpful but what interested me most about Jarrett’s presentation was his story.

He was ableto relate to everyone on the struggles of the early years of life and then inspire with his storyof accomplishment.
