We started the new year with a trip to Universal Studios.
Highlights from the Jones Family 2009 Adventures!
Canyon played AA level on the Rivercats
Little League team this spring & Rik
helped as a coach.
Rik & Donna connected with old buddies @ Electronic Arts reunion in March.
Canyon caught a
huge fish during a camping trip with
Rik.
Sequoia went on a field trip to the state capitol in Sacramento in May and had 2 singing roles in the 4th grade play: “The Westward Movement.”
Sequoia earned her red belt & Canyon earned his blue belt this year in Tae Kwon Do. Canyon broke his board on the first try! Both Sequoia & Canyon competed in a TKD tourna-ment & both brought home silver medals for their forms.
In June, Donna spent 4 days on location (inc @ the state capitol in Sacto) filming as an extra in the Bollywood/Fox Studios film, “My Name is Khan.” See if you can find her behind Shah Rukh Khan & part of the crowd in a couple of scenes when the film releases on Feb. 12, 2010. http://www.mynameiskhanthefilm.com/
Sequoia had her braces replaced by a retainer & now that’s gone too.
We caught fish. Toured ghost towns including Bodie, CA & Belmont, NV. Explored Mono Lake tufa & history. Collected obsidian pieces & other minerals from several sites. Saw 14 wild horses on NV plains. Discovered mine & museum in Tonopah, NV. Visited NV Museum & watched minting of Abe Lincoln coins. Kids panned for gold, took home flakes. Soaked in wild hot springs & found Diana’s Punch Bowl too hot to touch. Swam in Lake Tahoe.
Canyon sang & played instruments in the 3rd grade winter concert.
Sequoia’s 5th grade Service Club sang at our town’s Xmas
tree-lighting ceremony.
Harvest from Rik’s garden included heirloom tomatoes, many kinds of peppers, & 6 kinds of basil.
Donna led the Girl Scout troop again &
Sequoia participated in lots of events including
the Father/Daughter Cruise Ship Dance & community service.
Cicero’s Pizza continues to do well & Rik was the popular parent for classroom parties.
American Girl “doll”, Taya, joined our family last Xmas & Sequoia enjoyed having her share family events.
Donna continued to teach in the computer lab at the kids’ school & Rik helped in the classroom again this year.
All 4 of us picked up
trash on the main street in Scotts Valley
with the other local Girl
Scouts.
Sequoia played Sister Margareta in the local pro-
duction of “The Sound
of Music.”
We toured Eastern Sierra & discovered “the middle of the middle of nowhere” in Nevada.
