As a Physical Therapist in the US Navy you will be commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade or Lt. JG

Responsibilities

Prevent injuries Rehab wartime, work-related or any other type of

injury Improve muscular-skeletal and other impairments Perform all procedures as civilian PT but with

more independence

Opportunities Specialization in specific field such as massage therapy,

orthopedics Increase education and obtain certifications Pursue advance degrees; additional pay for extra

certs/degrees Clinical/management positions available

Promotion Process

Authorized Officer Strength- amount of officers allowed in each branch.

Promotion Flow Points-years served before promotion allowed

Selection Opportunity Percentage-% of personnel accepted

Retirement Pay

20 years of service= 50% of base pay rate

2.5% added for each year beyond 20

30 years of service=75% of base pay

Commitment

Must be a US Citizen Must possess a minimum of a 4 year

Switching Branches

Able to switch branches after contract is up

Must go through boot camp again unless coming out of the Marines
