On behalf of the City of Rock Springs and all staff of the Parks and Recreation Department, I welcome you to the facilities we operate. We hope you find activities and pro-grams, among the many in this guide, that interest and as-sist you in your quest for an enjoyable and healthy lifestyle. Our mission is to “Enhance the Quality of Life in Rock Springs”; we intend to follow through each and every day.
Again in 2015, our department will offer new and ex-citing recreation opportunities for you to explore. For exam-ple, this year the White Mountain Golf Course will break away from traditional golf and try six-hole rounds, develop new forward-tee areas, and offer an executive-course layout all in the name of fun golf! The Parks Department hopes you will visit their dog park – including the ‘small dog’ area, try disc-golf at Arthur Park and consider volunteering this summer in the development of the city’s first bike park! Our Civic Center/Rec Programs division hopes you’ll attend many of the exciting events inside this guide as we have so many opportunities for you to get out and play! And don’t forget our Family Rec Center and its many indoor offerings.
We hope that you will get out and participate in our numerous recreational opportunities. We also ask you to help us watch over the facilities we manage. Unfortunately, we experience vandalism each year in our community parks, which only takes away from your opportunity to recreate. Please appreciate your city parks. It’s your tax dollars that build and maintain them.
Wishing you all the best this summer!
Best regards, Dave Lansang, Director of Parks and Recreation

5K Family Fun Runs:5K Family Fun Runs:5K Family Fun Runs:5K Family Fun Runs: Whether you’re a beginner or competitive runner, please join us for a fun, low-
key 5K run/walk that’s safe and social. The run is typically no more than 50 minutes, although 50 is not a magic number, we try to have runs go “out and back” so that everyone can start and finish together and run at their own pace with others of similar ability. New runners may only want to run a mile or two. Experienced athletes might do a tempo run. This is geared towards families and people of all ages. Walking is also encouraged! Adult must be present for children 12 and under. All runs have a special theme - and a nifty surprise. We’ve added Green River dates for added fun. There is no fee to participate.
