JUPITER’S DISCOVERY

Ancient astronomers discovered Jupiter, but Galileo

was credited for the discovery of Jupiter.

Jupiter is the fourth brightest thing in the night

sky, so ancient astronomers used their knowledge

based off of that.

DISTANCE FROM THE SUN

It is the fifth planet in our Solar System

Perihelion: 740,742,598 km or 4.951 558 43 AU

Aphelion: 816,081,455 km or 5.455 167 59 AU

JUPITER’S ORBIT

It takes 11.86 years for Jupiter to orbit the sun.

(4,332 days).

A DAY ON JUPITER

A day on Jupiter lasts about 9 hours and 55

minutes. (About 10 hours.)

When you look at Jupiter, you see lots of beige

colors, along with some red and orange. It is very
