Project Teams
Our project comprises of 5 teams of Primary 5 pupils.
We had been chosen based on our project ideas we had come up with during our Design Thinking Project Work.
Our projects were selected as they met the needs of our users and the criteria set.
About Us
Why are we doing this Project?
Through surveys that we have conducted in our DesignThinking project, we see that there are real needs andproblems in the society and we believe that we canmake a difference to the community.

Outreach Team IdeasProblems faced by elderly
Fight Diabetes
Poor health
Exercise facilities too far
Lack of opportunities for exercises.
Help the elderly fight a common disease (High blood
pressure, diabetes, stroke, etc)
Bring about awareness to fight the common disease
Bring about awareness on exercise activities that is
simple and manageable for the elderly.
Healthy Eating
Some elderly feels lonely. They have little time interacting
with their grandchildren.
To teach the elderly how to prepare healthy
sandwiches. Preparing these sandwiches with the
elderly will not only create bonding time to the
elderly, they will also learn some healthy eating tips.
Anti Mozzie
Dance
Most elderly supports a Clean and Green environment.
Having a Clean and Green environment makes them
happier.
First step to a Clean and Green environment is to
create a safe and healthy environment by wiping out
mosquitoes. This can be done through the Anti
Mozzie dance that also promotes a healthy lifestyle
in a fun way.
Craft Activities
with recyclables
Some elderly feels that they have very little social
engagement.
Waiting time at the polyclinic, hospital is often long.
Littering is still a common problem in every estate. Bulk
waste is a common sight.
To come out with craft activities whereby the elderly
could spend time meaningfully in. It will also
promote social engagement of the elderly through
interaction while crafting. On top of that, promotes
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Games
Elderly do not participate actively in activities organised in
their communities because they feel that they are not up to
it due to its pace.
Elderly hope to have more activities to pass their time.
They also think that they need activities to test their minds
and exercise their wits.
Design games that are suitable and manageable for
the elderly yet promotes active and healthy lifestyle
in the elderly.

Solutions Auntie, may I know what kind
of games do you like?
Would you like us to share the different types of food and
exercises that can help you to fight diabetes?
Solution Innovations
The definition of the word ‘innovative’ according to Oxford Dictionary
is featuring new methods; advanced and original.
I am too old to exercise!
Exercise is too strenuous for me.
I am weak.
I should just enjoy whatever food I
want to eat at this stage.
BEFORE
I need to go outdoor to exercise. I don’t like.
Solution Innovations The definition of the word ‘innovative’ according to Oxford Dictionary is featuring new methods; advanced and original.
That’s easy, we can do it!
We should choose healthier options!
It’s not difficult to prepare and it’s just
as delicious!
Let’s convert these to
treasures!

Our Reflections
I have learned a valuable lesson that a lot of effort and planning is actually required to carry out a meaningful and successful outreach experience. We should not design something based on our own perception. Empathy for others is important in any design.
