FURTHER NOTES ON GRAMMARAND LANGUAGE PATTERNS
An intensive analysis carried out on the K.C.P.E examination for the last one
decade shows that the examiners hardly ever test candidates on any grammar
item or language pattern outside the syllabus. Whenever it happens the
questions are based either on application of knowledge or just general
knowledge.
We should therefore do a lot of practice exercises in grammar so that all the
rules of grammar and language are at our finger tips:-
Areas that are mainly tested are:
Question tags
Order of adjectives
Phrasal verbs
Words usually confused
Antonyms (opposites)
Synonyms (words with similar meaning)
Homophones/Homonyms (words with same sounds)
Parts of speech
Accurate punctuation
Direct and indirect speech
Sensible paragraph construction
Completing sentences in a grammatically correct way.
Make sure that before you sit for your final examination you have mastered
the above among other things.
