OUR PROMISE
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Business and Law at KDU University College. This year marks a historic moment for KDU University College when the School of Business and the School of Law merged to become one single entity, the School of Business and Law (SBL). SBL is dedicated to provid-ing an internationally-accredited professional education to students. Our primary focus is to provide an experiential learning environment that will prepare students to take leadership roles in both public and private organizations. In tandem with this commitment, SBL supports and encourages the development of relationships with the business commu-nity. To top it off, our graduates are uniquely positioned to provide services to the region and the professions. At SBL, we take sincere interest in our students’ professional develop-ment and growth. We will help students expand the scope of their dreams and provide them with the knowledge, skills, professional poise and confidence to turn their dreams into realities. Our curriculum emphasises a strong cross-functional understanding of business prac-tice, experiential learning, and a global perspective, all in a values-based context. At SBL, we believe that operating ethically and with a passion for high principle is a powerful business and career strategy. Our students are encouraged to dream big and never underestimate their own unique potentials. SBL graduates are diverse in their interna-tional backgrounds, interests and careers. Over the years, they have been empowered to follow their passions, lead organisations, and make a difference all over the world.
KDU University College will be offering its own degree programmes starting September 2011. For SBL, we will be offering two new degree programmes: Bachelor of Business (Honors) and Bachelor of Business (Honors) with Law. The latter programme provides an awareness of the functional relationship between law and businesses. The increasing complexity of both business organizations and non-profit institutions makes such understanding important for students considering careers as corporate lawyers, private practitioners dealing with businesses, and for students interested in government or public service.
I feel profoundly privileged and honoured by the KDU community’s trust in me, and I will put my heart into leading SBL into the next exciting phase of its history. I look forward to seeing you on campus.

I enjoy studying under the Murdoch B. Commerce programme at KDU. This programme offers a great amount of flexibility which enable me to select from a wide range of units and thus, broaden their scope of expertise. Students also have the option to experience life abroad at a more affordably rate by enjoying the “study at home” programme which allows them to pay MYR fees while studying there for one semester. Furthermore, the efficientcoordination between the counterparts in Australia and our lecturers here help facilitate any inquiries as well as prompt updates. With the guidance of helpful lecturers and peers, you will definitely find yourself inspired to perform.
// Nasuha Binti Mohamed Ridza1+2 BA (Hons) Economic & Social Studies in Accounting & Finance
Transfer to The University of Manchester
For me, it was the economic downturn that spurred me to observe and eventually realize how much economists inparticular contribute to a country’s well-being. This soon turned into a fascination for me as people, even laymen, have their own theories on how to manage a situation at any given time. What I like about my course is whatever that is taught in class can be easily related to what’s going on around me – case in point. I am proud to be enrolled at The University of Manchester as it is a top class university not only in the UK, but also the world.
// Priscilla PhangRecipient of Murdoch University Vice Chancellor’s Commendation of Academic Excellence Award
Transfer to Murdoch University
My decision in choosing Murdoch University and KDU University College as my pathway to success is indeed a perfect one. The courses are well structured and thought through, allowing me to develop both intellectually and emotionally, as well as in societal values. The tasks and projects are mentally challenging andencouraged me to think outside the box. Public speaking, presentations and speechdelivery made me a moreconfident and eloquent individual. Besides that, the opportunities of working in teams added to my level of exposure which prepare me for my future endeavors in the workenvironment. The combination of lecturers and coordinators’ efforts contributed much to the success I have achieved till date. I consider my award a stepping stone for myself, and an accreditation to my lecturers who worked endlessly in assisting me in my learning curve.

// Elma Dareen Athanase(Republic of Seychelles)Keele University (3+0) B.A. (Hons) Business Management and Marketing The fact that Keele is known to have good business programmes and I have always been interested in business, especially the marketing perspective, compelled me to pursue this course. Not only has it improved my confidence, but also honed my ability to work bothindividually and in teams, a quality I did not have prior to this. This I’d have to thank my lecturers who pushed me to improve my studies. I believe the experience has given me a strongercharacter.

Everyone’s career path begins at the choice of profession and most importantly the education institute in which to pursue it. My choice was KDU University College. Looking back, I can say without reservation that KDU provide me the relevantknowledge and skill sets for me to excel in my current career. The support and advice which I received from the lecturers, management staff and my fellow university friends have made my time in KDU an unforgettable journey towards my career and my dreams. I hope my journey will inspire others to work hard towards achieving their dreams.
// Shown Jung Moo YoungBA Business Management (Finance major), Northumbria University UK, 2010 Financial Analyst,IBM Malaysia
I started my student life at KDU University College in 2004. Prior to enrolling in a Bachelor’s Degree programme, I completed an English Language course and a Diploma programme.I chose to study Business Management and do a major in Finance. Doing a degree in Finance is very challenging. I found the module Corporate Finance to be quite narrow in scope yet it was very deep. Overall I believe what I have learnt will be somehow relevant to my work either directly or indirectly.
