Welcome back Key Clubbers! It’s back to school time, and that means it’s back to
Key Club. It also means welcoming a bunch of new members. In this issue you will find
information about Key Club events over the summer. New members can learn about Key
Club, and what it means to be a Key Clubber.
Yours in Care and Service,

What is Key Club?
Key Club is a nonprofit organization that works to help and do service both in the local community and all around the world, with over 265,000 members, and 5000 clubs in 32 countries, Key Club is both the oldest and largest student run service organization in the world. It’s also the largest club at LHS, having 265 members during the 2013-2014 service year. As a Key Clubber, you will learn just how easy it is to make a difference, and you will have plenty of opportunities to have fun with your friends and help the community trough service over course of the next year.

Summer Events
Just because schools over, doesn’t mean Key Club is. The board worked hard to plan for the great year ahead, and held plenty of events over the summer.
The Events included the Kiwanis Swim Karnival, a Senior Pool Party, and more. Here are some highlights

One of our club’s biggest projects
for the 2014-2015 service year is the
selling of Yuda Bands. These bands are
handmade in Guatemala and cost only
$7.00.
Each band that is sold contributes
directly to the tuition of underprivileged
children in Guatemala, and 175 bands
covers the full cost of schooling for one
kid. Our club is sponsoring two students:
15 year old Maria Tarton, and 18 year
old Braulio Lopez. With Yuda Bands,
you can wear a band and change a life!
More information can be found
online at the organization’s website
www.yudabands.org/.
The Eliminate Project
Key Club’s other major project is the Eliminate Project. This project works to eliminate
Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) from the world. This kills a baby ever nine minutes,
approximately 60,000 per year, and leaves many mothers feeling helpless.
Since 1999, MNT has been eliminated from 35 countries and immunized more than 118
million women, and despite the successes of the Eliminate Project, MNT still remains a threat
in 24 other countries.
2015 is the last year of Key Club’s partnership with the Eliminate Project, and because
of this, the New jersey District has set a fundraising goal of $109,325.15. While this goal is
high and may impossible, it can be achieved through the hard work of Key Clubbers like you.
