Mosul Humanitarian Response: Explosive Incidents

The iMMAP security incidents tracking system has recorded 3,132 explosive incidents including 1,007 armed clash areas, 1,336 explosive hazards, and 789 airstrikes. It reveals armed clash areas, IEDs, and airstrikes remained major security concerns since military operations started on 17 October 2016.

On 17 Oct 2016 the military o�ensive operations were started to retake Mosul province and its surrounding areas from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). There have been a signi�cant escalation in explosive incidents and continuous increase in the number of internally displaced people in those areas. As of 31 Mar 2017, the iMMAP security incidents tracking system has recorded 3,132 number of explosive incidents in Mosul Operations Area since the beginning of military operations which have resulted in the death of about 12,728 people and injuries of 894 ones. Between 17 Oct 2016 to 02 Apr 2017 over 302,430 people have been displaced from the Mosul operation areas and they are in dire need of humanitarian support and assistance.
