Prelude FLNG field is owned by SHELL and located in Browse Basin, Australia. The Prelude turret will be the largest non-disconnectable internal turret in the world. Once manufactured it will weigh almost 12,000 tonnes, have a diameter of approximately 40 meters and extend around 93 meters in height. This massive structure is what will allow the Prelude FLNG to rotate according to wind and currents when onsite over the Prelude field, ensuring the facility remains stable in all weather conditions. The Turret Mooring system will be installed on a new build FLNG vessel with overall size 488mL x 80mW and it will be deployed at a depth of 250m. Our Client is SBM. Technip is SBM’s client and SHELL is the end user Turret’s major components are as below:
1) Chain Table (26.5m dia x 5.8m H; 2,030 tons)
2) Mid Turret (26.5m dia x 23.6m H; 1,665 tons)
3) Bogie Support Structure ( BSS) (30m dia x 21.4m H; 1,308 tons)
4) Collar Deck (38m dia x 4m H; 2,418 tons)
5) Manifold Structure (39m dia x 19.5m H; 2881 tons)
6) Gantry Structure (45m x 55m x 30m H; 770 tons)

The turret of an FPSO is the heart of the operation
Floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) is a revolutionary technology that will allow Shell to access offshore gas fields that would otherwise be too costly or difficult to develop. Prelude FLNG (100% Shell) is the world’s first FLNG development.

Project :
DolWin beta was built for a large wind farm cluster in the German
sector. It will receive alternating current from wind farms and convert it
into direct current before sending it onshore via subsea cables.
The platform can generate over 900MW of power and can receive
electricity from three wind farms, i.e. a total of 240 turbines.
Steel fabrication including outfitting -17,500 tons approx
Yard scope of works :
Procurement of steel, pipe, cables, fabrication of steel and piping,
installation of electrical cables, surface protection coating, mating of
deck box with sub structure, installation of the client supplied
equipment, design and construction of living quarters for 24 people
according to NORSOK standard and German regulations, fabrication &
installation of helideck.
Dolwin Beta has the size of a football field. It is 83 meters tall, 74 meters wide and 100 meters long. It will stand on the seabed at a depth of 29 meters and has a converting capacity of 924 MW Dolwin Beta is a submersible floating platform. It is to be towed into the right position and placed on the sea bed. It has separate living quarters for 24 people, a helipad and two lifting cranes. It will be towed out to the field later in 2014. ABB who has received the contract from German grid operator TenneT has overall project responsibility and is supplying cables and the conversion equipment, Aibel has designed the platform and DDW was the building yard
Project facts
DolWin Beta is built for the large wind farm cluster DolWin near the island Helgoland in the German sector of the North Sea. It will receive alternating current from three wind farms, i.e. a total of 240 turbines and convert it into direct current before sending it onshore via subsea cables.
The dimension of the platform: 100.1 x 74.1 m. It is 83m tall with accommodation and outfits Weigh 20,000 metric tones approximately.
