You are holding one week of Awana® curriculum in your hands.
You’ll find samples of the essential resources for second-grade children, their parents and leaders for one week of Sparks®, the program for kindergarten through second grade.
Know that we have programs and ministries for kids from 2 to 18 and offer resources for each of them — and a ton of support products, too.
Visit awana.org/30daysfree for a full month of Free curriculum.
Our kids activity books are perhaps the most widely known element of the Awana ministry. Each is an age-appropriate exploration of God’s character and redemptive plan, aligned with key spiritual development milestones.
Photo illustrations help
kids understand that the Bible is history,
not story.

Timeline to help kids
understand the sequence of events
in Scripture.
Sparks activity books include
a CD featuring a dramatic reading
of the Bible biography.
Review feature built
into each activity book.
Section requirements help kids, parents and
leaders know exactly what is expected in
each section.
Memory verse also on CD to assist
auditory learners.
Memory verse
Awana curriculum is available in ESV,
NIV 1984, KJV and NKJV.
Word definitions from
memory verse help kids understand
Scripture.
Application from the Bible
biography.

Our parent handbooks align directly with children’s activity books to encourage three key dynamics:
1. Parents learn more of God’s Word for themselves.
2. Parents grow in confidence as they gain tools to disciple their children.
3. Parents model commitment to learning God’s Word and pacing to achieve it.
Awana leaders also benefit tremendously from these handbooks, whether in personal devotions or group Bible study settings.
Bible reading
Lesson covers the same Bible
biographies as in the child’s activity book,
as well as many other topics.
Parents learn the same
Bible verses children
learn.
Section requirements
indicate exactly what is
expected.
How to apply
the lesson
Adults have their Bible memory work
“signed off” just like the kids do! A spouse, ministry leader or other adult can do this – or even better,
parents can ask their children! Kids love the role reversal and the
opportunity to “check” parents, and they also get an up-close
example of their parents’ commitment to
God’s Word.

In-lesson teaching and
group engagement tips, positioned right
in the flow of the lesson.
One of the unique features of Awana is its adaptability to different children and their learning abilities. Often, this means that kids in an Awana club move through their activity books at different paces. As a result, our large group resources are not tied directly to specific activity book sections, though they reinforce the same broader truths and themes. They also supplement and expand on material we can’t fit into activity books.
Large group
lesson prep for the leader.
More than an outline or talking points,
each lesson is written in a “scripted” format that can be delivered verbatim if desired
(great for last-minute leader replacements!) or, of course, adapted to the
leader’s style.

Ways for parents to reinforce
lesson content at home, also included in
reproducible format for easy copying and
distribution.
Fun, memorable ideas to build the
entire club night around lesson themes, including
game ideas and additional teaching
options.
Customized activity page that
can be used in large group or
sent home.
A concise application section
with a challenge for children to
consider.

Games have drawn kids to Awana for generations – and they still do! Our Game Time training, resource books and equipment all come together to help churches create heart-racing, pulse-pounding fun that is also age- and developmentally appropriate. But fun is not our only goal – our games also help clubs to achieve these important things:
1. Attract kids to the proven outreach and discipleship of an Awana club.
2. Give children structured opportunities to exercise, compete and learn good sportsmanship.
3. Reinforce lesson themes in creative ways; appeal to kinesthetic learners.
