Polyhedron’s Safari

Family Bear went to the airport to meet one of

their old friends!

This old friend arrived back from safari with lots of

trophies.

The great adventurer told them that in olden times they used to hunt lions, but nowadays they only

make photos.

Papa Bear believes, that the lying lion looks like a

polyhedron.

He started to quiz the Cubs:

How many times does flea have to jump to reach the far end of the lion from his left leg?

Do you know the answer?

And now? How many jumps will take to

reach the right end from the left leg? And which way?

Straight? Up? Left?

The Cubs liked the polyhedron lion

very much and they made up questions

for each other.

Can you continue ?

What do you think, what kind of pictures will they take?

This is how the mathematicians see it…How do the photographers see it ?

They’ve gone to a mine. What do you think why?

The took a look in a jeweller’s shop too.

There was the imitation of the world’s greatest jewels in glass

•01. Empress Eugenie, India02. Shah03. Firenze (Toscana), Vienna04. Pasha of Egypt, Egyptian viceroy05. Piggot, British crown06. Regent (Pitt), Louvre07. Great mogul08. Orlov, Russian sceptre09. Nassak, New-York10. Hope, London11. Star of the South12. Koh-i-Noor (origin) 13. Koh-i-Noor (cut)14. Sancy, India

They took a walk in front of a brick factory too. What did they see ?

And nowadays how goes the construction of buildings ?

What are their names? Have a look at the following

pictures!

On the left side: we can see a cuboid, we can say it’s a prism, because every cuboid is prism too.

On the right side: we can see a prism, or in another way a cornered column.

On the left side: we can see a ball, the geometric model is a sphere. On the right side: we can see a cylinder. We should mention that the

disk, just like a coin, is a cylinder.

On the left side: we can see a funnel or a cornet, but we can imagine any funnel-shaped object.

On the right side: we can see a pyramid, which has different polygon basic.

On the left side: we can see a swimming-tyre like figure. It’s a torus (a bending tube).

On the right side: we can see a cube, which is a cuboid and a prism too.
