• Stewardship is a personal responsibility for looking after the environment. No one should damage it now or in the future.

• Conservation is about the careful planned use of the environment so it is not ruined for future generations. Often done by government body.

• Cost more than standard holiday. • It is a small but expanding market of tourism.• Environmentally friendly tourism. For example;

– Little or no use of energy (solar power). – Eat local food (low food miles)

• Often locals are employed as guides. Money then re-spent locally.

• Tourists visit local villages an buy souvenirs directly from the person who made it.

• Often give an experience directly with the natural environment e.g. trekking or kayaking.
