POROSITY - The amount of open pore space between particles of a material.
PERMEABILITY-The ability of rock and soil to allow water to pass through
IMPERMEABLE- Rock materials that do not not allow water to pass through.
WATER RETENTION- Water retained by the rock
INFILTRATION- Process of water moving down into the ground beneath the rock particles.
GROUNDWATER-Liquid water that has infiltrated the ground and lies beneath the land surface.
SORTED-Separation of particles by equal size.
Ex. Sandstone
UNSORTED-Separation of particles by unequal sizes
Ex. Glacial deposits
