CAPITAL DISTRICT - June 30th, 2014 marked the be-ginning of Fresh Air summer experiences for thousands of inner-city children and
their volunteer host families as The Fresh Air Fund kicked o its 138th summer of serv-ing New York City children. By volunteering as a host
family in Albany Area, NY, you can share the pure joys of summer with a Fresh Air child in your own backyard! The Fresh Air Fund is cur-rently seeking more families to give inner-city children a Fresh Air experience this summer. Fresh Air summers are lled with children run-ning barefoot through the grass, gazing at star- lled skies or swimming for the rst time. Each summer, over 4,000 inner-city children visit suburban, rural and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volun-teer Host Family Program. The Fresh Air Fund, an in-
dependent, not-for-pro t agency, has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income communities since
1877. Fresh Air children are boys and girls, from six to 18 years old, who live in New York City. Children on rst-time visits are six to 12 years old and stay for one or two
weeks. For more information on hosting a Fresh Air child, please contact Tenniel Han-sen at 518-441-4407 or visit The Fresh Air Fund online at www.freshair.org.

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail). Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Im-maculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this neces-sity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all in-stances in my life you are with me, I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. The person must say this prayer 3 consecutive days, after 3 days the request will be granted. This prayer must be published after the favor is granted. Favor granted. LMCC

New cars are purchased or leased to provide a reliable mode of transportation. But some ve-hicles malfunction even when they are fresh off of the dealer-ship lot. Other times manufac-turers or safety watchdog groups determine that certain cars and trucks have an issue that requires a recall to keep roadways safe. Vehicle recall statistics are diffi -cult to pin down. That’s because there is no standard rate of re-calls per year, as recalls depend on safety statistics for particular makes and models. For example, in 2009 more than 40 million Toy-ota vehicles were recalled due to a faulty gas pedal.
An automotive recall is how manufacturers inform drivers that there could be something about their cars or trucks that presents a risk of injury or prop-erty damage. The recall may be independently conducted by the manufacturer or ordered by a safety group, such as the Nation-al Highway Traffi c Safety Admin-istration. The recall involves the manufacturer providing a free, safe and eff ective remedy for the faulty component.
When a recall is announced, drivers may not have to imme-diately visit a dealership to have the problem corrected. Owners should wait for an offi cial let-ter. The letter will narrow down which vehicles are aff ected. There should be a specifi c win-dow of time presented in which the vehicle can be repaired. Ve-hicle owners are urged to pay attention to the performance of their cars or trucks to see if they are exhibiting any problems. If so, schedule an appointment for repair according to the recall in-structions provided.
The notifi cation letter should in-clude the risk of hazard posed by the problem as well as the free
WHAT TO DO WHEN FACED WITH AN AUTO RECALL
remedy and how long the repair should take. There also should be a description of what an owner can do if he or she is unable to have the problem remedied within a reasonable amount of time and without charge.
If repair work has been done on a vehicle prior to knowledge of the recall, owners may be eligible for reimbursement for their ex-penses, provided they kept their receipts. While reimbursement for damages that the defect may have caused are not covered by recalls, owners may be able to solicit reimbursement privately.
The following are steps to take when informed of a recall:
1. Contact the dealer service manager and explain that you are inquiring about work re-quired as part of a recall.
2. If the manager has not rem-edied the situation and provided the next steps, contact the man-ufacturer, which should be able to handle the situation.
3. If all else fails, Americans can
contact the National Highway Traffi c Safety Administration at www.recalls.gov. Canadians can contact Transport Canada at www.tc.gc.ca.
