INTRODUCTION

• Served as Prime Minister of England twice (1940–45 and 1951–55).• Appointed as First Lord of the Admiralty during world war I & II.• A noted statesman and orator and also an officer in the British Army.• Only British prime minister to have received the Nobel Prize in Literature.

• To highlight the character of SIR Winston Churchill and analyze the leadership qualities he practiced throughout his career.

Early Life

• Born on 30 November 1874• Father: Randolph Churchill, a Conservative politician• Mother: Jennie Jerome, the daughter of Leonard Jerome, a New York businessman• Went to St George's School, Brunswick School and then to Harrow School.

MILITARY LIFE

• Attended the Royal Military College, Sandhurst• Commissioned as a Cornet (Second Lieutenant) in the 4th Queen's Own Hussars on 20 February 1895• Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty at the start of the First World War

POLITICAL LIFE

• Won the seat of Oldham at the 1900 general election.• In 1910 he was promoted to Home Secretary.• In 1911 he became the First Lord of the Admiralty.• In1919 became Minister of War and Air • In1921 became Colonial Secretary• In May 1940 he became Prime Minister and Minister of Defense• Resigned in 1955 . 7
