Bright Spot• Senior Management appointed position of Olympic

Co-ordinator

• Started in 2010 – to maximise the impact the London 2012 games could have on our students

• During NSSW 2010 we had one whole day dedicated to learning about the Olympic & Paralympic values within all subjects

• Bigger and better in 2011

• The event was ran by a group of year 9 students – Lead by and for the students

• Main target was to increase student’s awareness of London 2012, opportunities to become involved, but more importantly the values the games behold

• It was cross-curricular, inclusive and student driven

• Ran by the PE team and ‘Sporty’ students’, but to involve every student and teacher alike

• Assemblies ran by Ex- Olympians and current Paralympians

• A whole range of resources created by individual subjects, linking with one or more of the Olympic values

Wilmslow Olympic Day

Lasting Legacy• This year it’s ‘Wilmslow Olympic Week’

• A non-timetabled week dedicated to Student Identity, linking NSSW with maximising student talent and identity

• The whole week will be linked to the Olympic values and how students can base their lives around these values

• Create a lasting legacy of what the Olympics represent past 2012

School Games & Partnership

• School Leadership model – subject ambassadors

• We have maintained our SSCo for 2 full days – strong ties with our feeder primary schools

• We also have in place a School Games Co-ordinator based in school to integrate Level 1 and 2

• We still integrate fully with the Macclesfield School Sports Partnership
