CARNIVAL OF VENICE

The Carnival of Venice is one of the

best known and most popular

carnivals in the world. It is

held in February.

THE FLIGHT OF THE ANGEL

CARNIVAL OF VIAREGGIO (Lucca)

The Carnival of Viareggio is considered one of the most important carnivals in Italy and in Europe.

The tradition of the parade of floats in Viareggio dates back to 1873, when some rich merchants decided to dress up to protest against the taxes they had to pay.

THE BATTLE OF THE BRIDGE (Pisa)

The Battle of the Bridge is a historical festival, held every year in June, on the Ponte di Mezzo in Pisa.

The Luminara of Saint Ranieri is a town festival that takes place in Pisa on June 16th on the eve of San Ranieri, the patron saint of the city.

REGATTA OF THE ANCIENT MARITIME REPUBLICS

The Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics is a historic sporting event, established in 1955 with the aim to evoke the business and the rivalry of the most famous Italian maritime republics: Amalfi, Genoa, Pisa and Venice.

PALIO OF SIENA

The Palio of Siena is a competition between the districts of Siena in the

form of a horse race of medieval origin.

PALIO OF BUTI (Pisa)

Seven districts of the town of Buti will compete in a horse race. In recent years a historical parade in costume has been added to the race.
