The Florida Department of Transportation along with its contractor,

Denson Construction, Inc., are constructing a pedestrian overpass

along the Legacy Trail over Laurel Road in Sarasota County.

The overpass will be approximately 90 feet in length with a 12 foot

wide multi-use pedestrian pathway. Additional improvements include

resurfacing the roadway; drainage improvements, and new signing

and pavement markings.

The $2 million project begins early November. Expected completion is

late summer/early fall 2018.

Lane Closures

Motor i s t s should expect n ightt ime/overnight lane closures and/or

detours f rom 9 p .m. to 5 a .m. when crews are work ing over

Laure l Road.

Legacy T ra i l

The ex i s t ing Legacy T ra i l w i l l remain open dur ing normal hours of

operat ion f rom dawn unt i l dusk .

Motor i s t s should obey the posted speed l imi t and use caut ion whi le

dr iv ing through the const ruct ion zone.
