Do Now:How do you feel about working with fractions?

Operations with Fractions 9/16/13

• Operations with Fractions foldable (6-flap foldable)

Step 1 – Stagger three sheet of copy paper

Step 2 – Fold the top of the papers to meet the bottom about an inch.

Step 3 – Crease the fold and staple the top.

Step 4 – Label each flap

Step 5 – Copy the Vocabulary term.

• Proper fractions– fractions whose numerators are less than their

denominators

• Improper fractions– Fractions whose denominators are less than their

numerators

• Mixed numbers– Numbers with whole numbers and a proper fraction

• Reciprocal– A pair of factors whose product is equal to one (1)

• Multiply whole number by denominator

• Use quotient as whole number

• Write remainder as numerator
