SMK SANDAKAN, SABAH

Photosynthesis is the process by which chlorophyll containing cells

synthesis carbohydrates from carbon dioxide and water

using the energy of sunlight.

Carbon dioxide (6CO2)+ water (6H2O)

Glucose (C6H12O6) + oxygen (6O2)

Sejarah Penemuan Fotosintesis

7) BlackmanLight dependent process and light-independent.

8) Robert hillKloroplas hasilkan oksigen

a) Leaf mosaic - Kurangkan pertindihan diantara satu sama lain

- Menerima cahaya secara optimumb) Lamina - Struktur nipis memudahkan resapan CO2 dan penembusan

cahaya. - joined to stem by a petiole.c) Petiole – Memegang daun pada kedudukan terbaik untuk menerima

cahaya mataharid) Vein – menyokong lamina

Leaf structure and function

Struktur dan Fungsi Daun

Notes: complete the function of each structure. Textbook pg 130. Lesson 60 content 5

Palisade parenchyma

Spongy parenchyma

Upper epidermis

Bundle sheat

PhloemStoma

Xylem

Lower epidermis

Adaptation of plants to its habitat to carry out photosynthesis

Habitat Types of plant

Stomata distribution Chloroplast Distribution

Land Plant Hibiscus, balsam

Lower epidermis > upper epidermis

High in palisade mesophyll

Water surface

Lotus leaf •Upper epidermis > lower epidermis•Stomata open most of time

High in palisade mesophyll

In the water Hydrilla sp. • no stomata• difussion of gases occurs all over plant surface

Found in all part of the plant

Dessert or arid places

cactus • sunken stomata/in pits on the stem• leaves modified into needles and thorn• reduce leaves surface to control transpiration

• many in stems• photosynthesis at the stems

a) Diffusion of CO2 and O2 in and out of leaves

b) Transport of organic product

c) contains lot of chloroplastd) Diffusion of CO2 and O2

within leafe) Prevent excessive water

lostf) Transport water

Net or pinnate venation(dicots)

Parallel venation(monocots)
