IN THE STORY.

What’s Cooking?

Petunias are a kind of flower.

tablespoons and teaspoons (n.)

Teaspoons are use when making tea or adding ingredients when cooking.

Tablespoons are used to drink soup or when adding ingredients when cooking.

In recipes: teaspoon is tsp(Eg: 1 tsp of salt)

and tablespoon is tbsp (Eg: 1 tbsp of syrup)

butter (n.)

This is a stick of butter. It’s a measurement used when cooking.

It’s a little bit more than 100g.

eggbeater (n.)

An eggbeater is used to beat eggs quickly. You can also use a fork.

dough (n.)

Dough is flour mixed with water (and sometimes butter). It is used to make things like pizza and bread.

oven-mitt (n.)

A thick glove you use to take hot food out of the oven

To grease something means to make it slippery. We grease pans and tray when cooking so the food we cook will come off easily and won’t stick.

Here the cook is greasing a pan with butter.

“Crumb” can also be a verb if you are breaking something into little pieces. (Eg: When I eat my breakfast, I crumb all over the table.)

To weed is to take weeds out of the garden

To water means to pour water onto the plants and flowers
