Lacing Cards

Children love lacing cards. You have the option of printing up color or b & w cards to color yourself. You can print up the color lacing cards, cut out on the dotted line, laminate, and punch holes around the card using a hole punch. Give the children lacing strings, yarn or shoe laces to lace the cards. The b & w set can also be used as an additional craft for the children. Give each child one of the cards, have them color and cut out. Have an adult punch holes, and they can lace using the above options of string. Lacing strings can be purchased though http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/

Recognizing the Letter “L” Introduce the letter “L” to the children by showing them the written word “Lion” and helping them to see that it begins with a “L”. Cut a large Lion shape out of paper and write the letter “L” on it. Have the children tear or cut out magazine pictures beginning with the letter “L” and then glue the pictures on the Lion shape. The worm, it wiggles all around, The monkey swings by it's tail, and birds may hop upon the ground Or spread their wings and sail. But boys and girls have much more fun They leap and dance And walk And run. Have children act out each animal.

Lollipop Tree Get a styrofoam cone place it upside down on a table and have the kids stick lollipops in. You can color the cone different colors and have the kids stick the lollipop of that color in the correct section or so for some patterning. Lacing If you don't have lacing items, draw simple everyday items on cereal boxes or other cardboard. Then use a hole puncher, punch around the edges for lacing. Shoe strings work great. To keep from losing them tie one end securely to one hole. The children can lace with the other end. Leaf Walk Go for a walk and let the children find leaves to bring home. Laminate the leaves. Punch a hole in the top and string with different yarn to make a necklace. Give each child a necklace. Discuss the different sizes, shapes and colors of the leaves. When you go for a walk again, have the children wear their leaf necklace and see if they can find the tree that the leave came from.
