MODULE-4 :: RETURN OF BOOKS

What we think about a library System??

It’s a well organized software Solution for a library.

It has a Database which is constantly managed and updated.

It helps to provide information on any book present in library to the user who uses it.

It keeps a track of books issued, returned and added to the library.

Allows users to virtually Browse the books without doing so manually.

MODULE 1

CATALOG MANAGEMENT

Used for the creation, storage, retrieval and management of bibliographic records and/or indexes. Defines the record format used in the database and provides for authority control author, subject headings etc.Usually there are two different interfaces for search and retrieval of the electronic catalog :

For catalogers that allows them to maintain the library database (the main cataloging module), For users that allows them to search and display the results – the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC)

Module 2

USER ENTRY MODULE

In Developing an library management system the most important thing which comes into consideration is user entry.

In this the main objective is to enter the details of the students who take the books.

In the user form we should enter the details of the student into the database.

This are some of the screen shots

User Name : Specifies the textual name that identifies the user entry. The user name must be 32 or fewer characters.

Priority :

Assigns a priority to the user entry. If a user has multiple entries, the system uses the highest priority entry.Has a user name that matches the user name in the authentication request. Allows authentication or authorization when you use a specific application to connect to the system. If the authentication and authorization succeeds, you can log in to the system and monitor or configure the systemassociated with the user entry. If the defined authentication service for the user entry is not available , the system looks for a lower-priority user entry that matches the user name and application setting.

MODULE 3

ISSUE OF BOOKS

PROCESS OF ISSUE OF BOOKS

•When a book is requested by the user, the system immediately searches for thebook in the catalog for availability. When the book is available, the system automatically prompts for the users’ Registration number / Registration card. Then the status of book will be updated in the record and the user will be handed over with the book

STEPS FOR ISSUE OF BOOKS

By default Date (dd/mm/yyyy) will be set as current date.

1. Select a student either using select class, section & student or by student search type and mentioning the student ID.

2. No. of issued days can be changed if the user wants to change it. Else it will be set as previously mentioned in book limit section.

3. Select add book button to issue the book and a window get popped up as shown in below figure.

MODULE 4

RETURN OF BOOKS

Returning of books module involves following steps mainly:

1) check your library account online to see that all items returned are cleared from your account.

2) Whether the returned book is on the due date or not.

3) If the book is returned on day, then the book status is updated in the catalog.

4) If the book is returned late, then the due is to be calculated on basis of the number of days of late submission of book

CONCLUSION An integrated library management

system allows faster, more accurate, complete, and thorough results for anyone either researching specific information or looking for specific or hard to find publications.

It also allows for a lighter workload for library staff and requires less people to manage it.
