District Governor’s Message
It is a great honor to serve the Lions, Lionesses and Leos of
District 20Y2 as your District Governor. I am very proud of
the hard work, generosity and friendship which are so
consistently exhibited throughout our area. Thus my motto
is “Friends in Deeds.” We have the potential for a fantastic
year of doing many good deeds while building strong
friendships.
We have accomplished numerous wonderful things over
the years, but the needs are increasing just as our numbers
are diminishing. Now more than ever we must find ways to
strengthen our clubs and increase our membership.
I am hoping to reestablish the chain of support that includes
the members, clubs, zones, regions, district, multiple
district and Lions Clubs International. We have an
exceptional team of dedicated and motivated Lions now in
place to help achieve much needed results. Please make
good use of the resources available to you so we can
accomplish even more by serving together.
As we begin our efforts, I want to promote strong
communication. I have developed the District Governor’s
Contest along that line and included it regularly in the
newsletter as well as posted it on the District 20Y2 website
www.20Y2Lions.org. Each item listed on the contest is an
idea that could improve our communication and together
they could yield exceptional results.
I ask each of you to look into yourselves and remember
why you became a Lion, Lioness or Leo. Refresh that
original enthusiasm you felt and make this your best year
ever.
Stephen Lynch
District Governor

PROTOCOL FOR THE DISTRICT
GOVERNOR’S OFFICIAL
VISITATION
For the District Governor to have a successful visit
to your club, please adhere to the following
recommendations.
1. Keep your Club’s calendar open for the date
agreed upon.
2. Please do not schedule any other guest
speaker at that meeting.
3. Plan on conducting your regular meeting and
agenda, unless the District Governor requests
that he/she speak first. (In case of inclement
weather or a long drive home for the DG.)
4. The District Governor will be honored to induct
new members at the official visit. Please notify
in advance.
5. It is customary that the meal of the DG be paid
for by the club. It is optional that meal of the
Partner-in-Service be paid for.
6. Send a notice to all members of the Club that
the DG will be making their official visit. Be sure
to give them the date and request that as many
as possible attend.
7. Be proud of your Club and tell the DG of your
activities.
For the DG’s visitation schedule, see page 70.

LIONS ETHICS
To show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by
industrious application to the end that I may merit a
reputation for quality of service.
To seek success and to demand all fair remuneration
or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or
success at the price of my own self-respect lost
because of unfair advantage taken or because of
questionable acts on my part.
To remember that in building up my business it is not
necessary to tear down another’s: to be loyal to my
clients or customers and true to myself.
Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my
position or action towards my fellow men, to resolve
such doubt against myself.
To hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold
that true fellowship exists not on account of the
service performed by one to another, but that true
friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the
spirit in which it is given.
Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to
my nation, my state and my community, and to give
them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To
give them freely of my time, labor, and means.
To aid my fellow men by giving my sympathy to
those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my
substance to the needy.
To be careful with my criticism and liberal with my
praise; to build up and not destroy.
