What is Live Tweeting?

Live Tweeting is when you are tweeting information you gather from an event you are attending.

It can include photos, videos, and other items from the event; such as a conference.

My Live Tweeting at different events has gotten me noticed more than once, which has lead to other opportunities, such as this guest blogging opportunity as well as leads for my company.

Follow Along

Following others that are actively talking about the event on social media is a great way to connect with a new audience.

This can lead to opportunities that you might have missed, or connections you may not have thought of making.

The easiest way to accomplish this, is to find the event hashtag, if one exists.

#EmptyBowlsok 2013 = Empty Feed

If you are going to host an event, be sure that you are ACTIVELY using your own hashtag, as well as promoting it AT THE EVENT.

Out of 21 total tweets, 11 were mine and 5 were crossposts from Instagram from the sponsor. Only two other tweets were from someone else.

#EmptyBowlsok 2013 = Empty Feed

The event had no hashtag on posters, or anywhere AT the event. One tweet asked people to tweet and use the hashtag, but they never promoted it anywhere else.

This lack of self promotion lead to an extreme lack of participation on their hashtag that year.

#EmptyBowlsok 2014 = Learning

In 2014,

20 Total Tweets,

3 total tweeters (aside from the host account.)
