“Living in Friday……Looking for

Sunday!”“He is risen! He is not here.”Mark 16

It’s Friday...

Easter morning saw the women

followers of Christ coming to

the borrowed tomb

It’s Friday!

Easter is about Walking backfrom Death!

Mark 16:1-8

1 Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene,

Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, that they might come and anoint Him.

2 Very early in the morning, on the first

day of the week, they came to the

tomb when the sun had risen. 3 And they said among

themselves, “Who will roll away the

stone…

…from the door of the tomb for us?” 4

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away—

for it was very large. 5 And entering the

tomb…

…they saw a young man clothed in a long white robe

sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. 6 But he said to them, “Do

not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth…

…who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place

where they laid Him. 7 But go, tell His

disciples—and Peter—that He is going

before you into Galilee…

…there you will see Him, as He said to

you.” 8 So they went out quickly and fled from the tomb, for they trembled and

were amazed.

…and they saidnothing to anyone,

for they were afraid.”

Living in Friday!

The Apostle Paul(The Epistles of Paul)

2 Timothy 1:6-7

“Therefore I remind you to stir up the

gift of God which is in you through the

laying on of my hands.

2 Timothy 1:6-7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power

and of love and of a sound mind.”

Living in Friday!

John Bunyon(Pilgrim’s Progress)

“Conversion is not the smooth, easy-

going process some men seem to think... It is

wounding work, this breaking of the hearts, but without wounding there is

no saving...

Where there is grafting there will

always be a cutting, the graft

must be let in with a wound; to stick it onto the outside or to tie it on with a string would be of

no use.

Heart must be set to heart and back

to back or there will be no sap from root to branch. And this, I say, must be done

by a wound, by a cut.”

Living in Friday!

Dietrich Bonhoeffer (The Cost of Discipleship)

“When Christ calls a man, he bids him come

and die.”

Living in Friday!

Alexander Solzhenitsyn

(The Gulag Archipelago)

“Bless you prison, bless

you for being in my life. For there, lying

upon the rotting prison straw…

…I came to realize that the object of life is not prosperity

as we are made to believe…

…but the maturity of the human soul.”

Living in Friday!

Martin Luther King (Letter from a

Birmingham Jail)

“The early Christians

rejoiced when they were

deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed.

…In those days the Church was

not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles…

…of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the

mores of society.”

Lookingfor Sunday!

The Promise

John 11:26

“And whoever lives and

believes in Me shall never die.”

Lookingfor Sunday!

The Reality

John 14:1-3

“Let not your hearts be

troubled. Believe in God; believe

also in me.

…In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you

that I go to prepare a place

for you?

…and if I go and prepare a place

for you, I will come again and will take you to

myself, that where I am you

may be also.

Crossing the Wall

The journey from Jerusalem to

Galilee

Getting to Sunday requires

faith…

…in God through Jesus!
