Local elections are taking place in May 2017

Do you know enough?

In May you will be asked to elect local councillors to represent you on your county council (also called your local authority).

You will also be asked to elect councillors to represent you on your town or community council.

We have some official, independent data that might help . . .

Tool 1: The Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation This allows you to see how areas across Wales compare in terms of 8 different types of deprivation.

Type “wimd.wales.gov.uk” into your web browser and enter your postcode:

This will generate a map showing the Lower Super Output Area you live in.

This is a small area with a population of around 1,600.

Data at this level is relevant to the town/community council elections.

Alternatively, you can select local authority.

This allows you to view information relevant to the local authority elections:

You can click on other areas of the map to compare with other local authorities

You can choose which type of deprivation to consider
