welcome.Lomo lovers has been created by two sisters who have a passion for lomography andwant to share whats out there to fellow lomographers.
We are creating monthly inspiration books. Different cameras, lm, techniques andmaybe some specialist features you name it, we just want to share it. We would like tothank everyone who has contributed to this issue, without you the book would be empty!
This month is medium format.

a guide to techniquesthroughout the book we may highlight techniques of how the image was createdheres a rough guide to the terms
rats eye:this is where the camera is placed at ground level, it gives a great perspectiveand depth.
double exposure:one shot taken over the top of another usually using an mxbutton or nishing a roll, rewinding, then shooting on top.
home made redscale:take some colour lm and put it in your camera the wrong wayround, so you expose on the back of the lm.
long exposure:using the bulb mode B you can create motion blurs.
cross-processing:xpro for short. processing your lm in the wrong chemicals givesyour lm more impact and saturated high contrast.
sprocket hole:modifying a medium format camera to use 35mm lm, means you willhave the image bleeding onto the sprocket holes.
coloured ash:get some coloured plastic gels, place one over the ash andexperiment with colour.
-

panoramas:combining multiple shots of one subject to create one long overlappingimage.
camera tossing:moving your camera or throw it in the air as you take the shot. givinga camera shake and motion blur.
microclicks: Overlapping, merging many exposures together so that they create amuch more striking, uid and cohesive panorama.

Inspirational lomographer of the month....name:Liana Garcia Joyceickr name:golfpunkgirl
day job:Manager of Lomography Gallery Store Soho, London
How long have you been into lomography / photography:Ive been a solid Lomographer for nearly 8 years now. Chanced upon the Lomographysite randomly one rainy day in 2004 and the rest is history. History being 1) meeting myhusband through Flickr because he loved my LC-A photos 2) turning a hobby into a careerby now working with the Lomography UK team 3) expecting our rst lomobaby!
your favourite picture:This is impossible! I have too many! All are sentimental one way or another as I use
photography as a way to document my life, like a journal through photos. If I had topick one, Ill choose a recent one shot on holiday to beautiful Santorini Island with theamazing new LC-Wide. Its 17mm lens captures EVERYTHING plus the half-frame modeallows you to shoot endless panoramics that blend in smoothly shot after shot. I am inlove with this camera.

What cameras do you own:GAH! Lets just say I now have too many, most of which I havent shot yet or have hadtest rolls of lm living in them for months. This is a classic case of having too manycameras and not enough time! What I can say is how many digital cameras I own and thatwould be zero its analogue all the way! Plus plenty of others that I cant think of or arebroken. Buying second hand cameras from eBay is almost as addictive as taking photos...
favourite lm:Slide lm is always going to have an upper hand and again there are too many favouritesbut if I had to narrow it down to three, Id go with:- Agfa CT Precisa 100 (the older emulsion)- Fuji Provia 400x- Lomography Chrome 100
favourite shooting locations:Everyday, mundane things as well as shooting in the underground and classic streetphotography, portraits and feet shots, signs, grafti, textures, doors and locks plusmultiple exposures mixing up various cities and countries.

Favourite Camera / Film / Accessory Combination:My favourite all-time camera has to be the Lomo LC-A. My continuing love affair with thiscamera goes beyond the photographs they produce but rather the weight of the memorieseach shot represents (if that makes any sense). Nothing quite captures things like the LC-A andit feeds back images that depict things as I envision them. Plus, clip on the instant back andget instant goodness in minutes its a killer combination. Bottom line: This camera does it forme.
Two other contenders would be the Polaroid SX-70 and the Canon SLR A-series
a bit about yourself:I love golf and shooting multiple exposures on lm; I live to travel; eating nutella straight out ofthe jar with a spoon is WIN and I have unconditional love for my mental cat, Ilford. On the ip
side, I hate people who wont give up their seat for a pregnant lady on the tube. Boo. Oh andmussels, you couldnt pay me to eat one!
where would you like to shoot where you havent so far?India and Cuba would be amazing the culture, the colours, the people could there beanything more photogenic? Plus I really want to go there so its win win.

creating microclicsMicroclics is all about overlapping, merging many exposures together so that they createa much more striking, uid and cohesive panorama. With the help of the websitewww.squarefrog.co.ukwritten by Simon Tomlinsonand photography by slimmer_jimmer.
This is how you do it...
step 1:Choose your subject and decide where you want the panorama to start andwhere to end. Your image can be as wide as you like, the only limit being the length ofthe lm. Often Microclics images are the width of 34 frames of 6x6, so thats between18 24cm long. This length would make a panorama of roughly 180
step 2:Point your camera at the left edge of your panorama, take the rst shot, thenwind the lm on 4-5 clicks and take the second, and so on (dont worry about precision!).Then you need to turn roughly 25, or, using the viewnder overlap about 1/3rd over yourprevious exposure. If you are taking a 180 panorama you will end up taking about 7-8exposures.
The key thing here is to remember the order to do it in: click-wind-turn, click-wind-turn.Or else you may forget whether you wound the lm on or not.
step 3:After youve taken all your shots, you then need to wind on 32 clicks to the nextframe. Youll usually nd that if you keep your eye on the counter window youll probablyend up near a frame number when you get to about 32 clicks, I would leave it on a frame
number in case your next shot ends up being a conventional single-frame.66.

Preventing overexposure:It seems obvious that the most common problem with thistechnique is overexposing your lm, due to so many exposures going on top on one another.Things that can help with this are:
Low ISO lm: 100 or slower is best Use an ND lter, or a red lter when shooting black and white to decrease the amount of
light hitting the lm. Shoot on overcast days. Use red-scale lm, which is almost impossible to overexposeperfect for Microclics.
Developing your lm:When you get your lm developed dont forget to ask them not to cutthe lm! That way you have greater control over how the lm is cut. Youll probably have toscan the lm yourself, unless your lab can do it for you.
Tips:A tripod is very useful for Microclics, if you really want to get a straight horizon. But, asIve said before, precision isnt always best.
