Four Girls Represent Lower Lab at the All-Girls Nationals in Chicago
In this issue -National Elementary Championship Results -All-Girls Nationals Results -Mayor’s Cup Results -“The Littlest Chess Champions” in the NY Times
For the first time, the Lower Lab Chess Club participated in the All-Girls National Championships on April 22-24 in Chicago. The girls played in two sections, Under 12 and Under 10. Playing shorthanded, with only two players per team instead of three, the Lower Lab girls had a strong showing. So a special congratulations to 5th graders Momoca Mairaj and Hana Kaloudis for a 10th place finish in the U12 section. And to 3rd graders Nishtha Roy and Ellyssan Park for a 14th place finish in the U10 division. A special thanks to our local Chicago chess coach, Honorius Constantin, and the families who dedicated time and energy to making this a great experience. We hope more LL girls can be ready for next year’s Girls Nationals (April 7-9, 2017), so save the date!
Lower Lab Team at Nationals in Nashville: A Great Success Nineteen Lower Lab students made the trip to Nashville on May 6th-8th for the National Elementary Championship. There were many individual and team accolades, including a 1st place team finish by the K-1 Championship team, a 9th place finish by the K-3 Championship team and a 16th place finish by the K-3 Under 800 team. Congratulations to all our players.
