TRANSCRIPT

M4G1 Students will define and identify the characteristics of geometric figures through examination and construction.M4G2 Students will understand fundamental solid figures.

Opening

The word polygon means “many angles”

A two dimensional object A closed figure

Made up of three or more straight line segments

There are exactly two sides that meet at a vertex

The sides do not cross each other

Side: One of the line segments that make up a polygon.

Vertex: point where two sides meet.

Regular Polygon: all sides have equal length and all the angles have equal measure.

Triangle: a three sided polygon

Quadrilateral: a four sided polygon. A quadrilateral that is a regular polygon is called a square.

Pentagon: a five sided polygon

Hexagon: a six sided polygon

A heptagon has seven sides.

Octagon: an eight sided polygon

Decagon: a ten sided polygon

Triangle eight sides

Heptagon three sides

Octagon seven sides

Work Session
