PHILOSOPHY
Our goal as a football program is to help develop athletes to become productive members of society by teaching them to do the little things right both on and off the football field. When our athletes leave the Madison East Football Program we want to make sure that they know how make the right decision that will not only affect them, but others around them. Good players who are good people will always win; good athletes, who struggle to be good people, will struggle to be successful.

Two-Platoon Philosophy

FROSH & JV FOOTBALL
• Our lower levels are meant to develop our athletes so they are prepared for Friday nights
• Lower level teams will work to develop team chemistry, positive attitudes, and skills needed to play varsity– Winning is the ultimate goal, but we will not sacrifice
lessons to win
• We may ask Juniors to move down– Not a punishment, but a development opportunity
SUSPENSION POLICIES
Athletes who are academically ineligible or serving a suspension WILL NOT be able to:Obtain a uniform or dress with the teamTravel on the team bus to a gameStand on the sidelines with their teammatesIf you are suspended or ineligible, we still expect you to
attend ALL practices. You are a part of the TEAM!!“Own Your Dash….”
PRACTICE TIMES
• TRAINING CAMP– Varsity and JV: August 5 – 14 from 8am – 1pm– Freshmen: August 11 – 20 from 4pm – 8pm– **August 12th we will practice from 12pm – 4:30 pm.• Gold Card Blitz will from 5pm – 8:30pm
• IN-SEASON– Monday – Thursday 4 – 6:30pm (possibly earlier)– Frosh and JV: Games on Thursday, Practice Friday
SCRIMMAGES
• August 9th: Warner Park Family Night Scrimmage.– 6pm at Warner Park: Bring the family and enjoy food
while you watch us practice
• August 15th: JV and Varsity at Portage– 3pm
• August 21: Freshmen vs. Memorial– 4:30pm
ABSENT POLICIES
• An excused absence takes place when a PLAYER communicates with his Head Coach by way of a phone call about missing practice at least 1 hour prior to the start of practice.– It is the responsibility of the player to make sure he is
excused from practice.

Appropriate Dress
PRACTICE- Shorts, Knee Pads, Helmets and Shoulder Pads- GAME DAYAll players must wear their game jersey, with jeans,
khakis, khaki shorts, or dress pants Jerseys must be tucked inIf a girl is seen wearing a players’ jersey, we will have
her dress for the game and the player will sit in the stands!
Appropriate Dress
• Varsity Players must wear black socks on game day• JV and Frosh must wear white socks
– All Socks MUST be above the calf…No bootie socks!
• Cleats must be 70% black, with the other color being a school color (purple, gold, white).
• No exceptions. Players do not participate if they are not dressed appropriately
PREPARATION
HELMETS-Worn at ALL times during games and practice.-Chin straps will remain buckled.-Helmets can be taken off when directed by the
Head Coach.

LOCKER ROOM
• THE LOCKER ROOM IS YOUR HOME– It is a place to bond and get to know your teammates– It must be cleaned on a daily basis– It will be the responsibility of the designated group of
people each week to make sure it is cleaned before they leave for the night
– Do your part and pick items up and throw them in the garbage
– Lock all of your belongings up each time you leave

WHY WE NEED TO IMPLEMENT A PARENT CODE Parenting & coaching are extremely difficult
vocations. Our goal is to establish clear communication between parents & coaches
The following information was designed clearly outline expectations that EHS parents, athletes, & coaches must be aware of in order for our football program to be successful
PARENTS & ATHLETES CAN EXPECT FROM COACHES
• Coaches acting as role models for good sportsmanship, appropriate language, professional appearance, promotion of a healthy environment, & safe training facilities
• EHS & WIAA eligibility requirements.• Team regulations & expectations that are
outside the EHS Co-Curricular Code.• Well planned practices.
COACHES SHOULD EXPECT FROM PARENTS
1. Support your sons and the other players on the team
2. Be positive advocates for the Madison East Football Program
3. Show good sportsmanship at practices and games towards players, coaches and officials
4. Let the coaches coach, the players play, and the officials officiate
PARENT/COACH COMMUNICATION
• My phone and e-mail are always accessible– Feel free to contact me with questions about scheduling
• I will NOT take phone calls or respond to e-mails regarding playing time, scheme, or coaching decisions.– My door is always open to the players if they want to discuss
matters about the team
• 24 Hour Rule– Win, lose, or draw, please wait 24 hours after a game to
contact me
APPROPRIATE CHAIN OF COMMUNICATION
1. Athlete seeks out his coach to discuss concern
2. Parent requests conference with the coach or coaching staff
3. If conference between the athlete, parent, & coach does not resolve a problem, a meeting will be set up wit the Athletic Director

New WIAA Rules
• Acclimatization – Process of allowing the body to progressively adapt to
exercising in the heat, so it can better tolerate physical activity.
• Practice Format– Days 1-2: Helmet and Mouthguards Only– Days 3-5: Helmets, Mouthguards, and Shoulder Pads– Days 6-14: Begin use of full equipment.
