House Style• The biggest thing the examiners are looking for is the

consistent HOUSE STYLE of your magazine.

• Layout• Colour scheme• Use of fonts etc… across all pages

• This provides a familiar product for the audience and encourages reader loyalty (they will buy it every month/week/fortnight.)

Photography Shoots

• The biggest mistake students make is not getting their photo shoot done early enough!

• Sorting and organising props, costumes, makeup and models.

• Booking the studio – you will need at least 2 lessons (1 ½ hours) for your shoot. Take about 50 photos!

• Use the lighting!

Theme

• Magazines/photographers will often use a theme or idea to base the photo shoots around

• Changes of costume and makeup are typical

• Props can be very effective!

The artist’s image and shoots

• If you are shooting a music artist or film star or celebrity…

• The theme of the photoshoot should either match their (star) image

• OR sometimes it challenges it – linked to your article!

Journalism• Once you have planned

your magazine you will need to write your feature article

• 800-1000 words

• Must be drafted– a deadline will be set by your teacher

• Guidance on this will be given nearer the time
