Our visionMaking business with purpose
The Global Sports WeekSport’s new global rendez-vous
03The GSW Experience Programme and content
01. OUR VISION
‘Sport has a two-way relationship with society. On one hand, it enjoys greater cultural and societal influence than ever before. The rise of the purpose economy, combined with the changing lifestyles of a new generation, is driving a new emphasis on sport’s capacity to positively impact the world.
But the world itself is changing. And the forces of economic, technological and societal disruption are also reshaping the future of sport and sports business.
It is this relationship that sits at the heart of the Global Sports Week concept.
We believe it’s never been more important for the leaders of global sport, business and society to work together to maximize our collective potential and help create a better future for the world’.

The first edition of Global Sports Week will be held in Paris, from February 5th to 7th 2020 at the Carrousel du Louvre under the High Patronage of Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic and with the support of the French Ministry of Sports and other public and private partners.
As the host city of many major international events in the coming years, Paris is fast becoming the new focal point of world sport. The city’s growing status reinforces our vision of Global Sports Week as a place of influence, inspiration and business, where the sport of tomorrow is built...
Global Sports Week aims to give sport a platform to understand the biggest challenges that sport and society are currently facing; and to co-create business solutions that are both innovative and sustainable.

03. THE GSW EXPERIENCE: PROGRAMME & CONTENT Making Business with Purpose
7
The event content reflects sport’s place at the intersection of business and society, with unique potential to drive positive impact in a purpose-driven world. In line with our innovative and disruptive approach, we want to reach beyond the boundaries of the traditional sports ecosystem to include broader themes and contributors under the banner of ‘Making Business with Purpose.’
We have identified issues that bring together sport, business and society, within the framework of five global business and societal shifts. These represent key areas of change and opportunity for sport and business, and are presented in the programme as cross-cutting hashtags:
#Climateshift, #Powershift, #Equalityshift, #Datashift,#Lifestyleshift.
#Powershift: from the transition of geopolitical influence to the changing internal economics of sport, with shifting dynamics between athletes, rightholders and media. #Climateshift: addressing the global impact of climate change, the energy transition and growing social awareness of the climate emergency from the perspective of sport.
#Equalityshift: from the movement towards greater gender balance to changing social attitudes and growing awareness of social injustice affecting many groups.
#Datashift: the race towards a data economy, underpinned by technological advances, and the wide-ranging impacts across all aspects of sport, business and society.
#Lifestyleshift: encompassing a range of radical shifts, driven by the younger generations – from increased urbanisation to changing cultural preferences and habits of consumption.
