PRES IDENT ’S LET TER
The Glenview Theatre Guild (GTG) is delighted to present Man of La Mancha, which won 5 Tony Awards in 1966, including Best Musical and Best Composer and Lyricist. The predomi-nant themes of optimism, hope, and to fight for the right still resonate in today’s world making this musical as relevant today as it was 45 years ago.
We are very fortunate again this year to have assembled a very talented cast and live orches-tra. The music in this show demands superb vocalists and musicians and we have them. We are also lucky to have a great stage crew. Without their hard work and skills it would not be possible to raise the curtain for you.
Our thanks goes to our dedicated staff for all their time and commitment put forth to bring you the best production possible. We are thrilled for returning Director Susie Johnson, Executive Producer Charki Dunn, Musical Director Marty Karlin, Choreographer Ericka Mac, and the rest of our “Impossible Dream” team.
Founded in 1974, GTG offers Glenview and the surrounding communities a high quality, low-cost exposure to theatre. In addition, as a sponsored program of the Glenview Park District the group enables talented individuals from Glenview and throughout Chicagoland the opportunity to share their gifts on stage. You may not realize that most of the individuals involved in the show volunteer their time and talents to bring quality, affordable enter-tainment to the community. We are also pleased to be able to present a generous annual scholarship to a graduating senior at Glenbrook South High School who aspires to pursue a theatrically related course of study after graduation.
We wish to extend our appreciation to our volunteers and Board of Directors for contribut-ing their time, expertise, and energy. Without their many hours behind the scenes, there would be no show. We are blessed to be in a community that values the arts and we are indebted for the support of our sponsors, patrons, the Glenview Park District, and especially Glenbrook North High School. Our show would not have been possible this year without the privilege to use their fabulous performing arts center.
Our greatest thanks go to you, the audience, for attending and supporting us. We are happy you are with us and invite you to join us in our quest to “reach the unreachable stars.”
Most gratefully,Laura SkeggsPresidentGlenview Theatre Guild
