Dear Parents and Carers
Despite the extremely cold weather outside, we’ve still had plenty
of fun inside. During some lunchtimes Mrs Patel and all the
lunchtime supervisors have organised a range of indoor activities.
Thank you to them all and to the children for being calm and
sensible despite being cooped up inside. On Thursday we had an
array of amazing book characters in school as we celebrated World Book Day by
dressing up. Meanwhile, it was also (incredibly given the weather!) the first day of
Spring and for all of our Welsh families: Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus! Mrs Whitehead
Bad Weather This week we had some extremely cold weather. If we have snow, then our aim
is always to keep school open. However, should we need to close the school
then we will notify parents as early as possible through the following ways:

Year 5 Inspire
Thank you to all the
parents who came
along to Year 5’s
interactive Inspire,
centred around
Spelling and Grammar.
We had different
activities – a
homophone hunt,
wordsearch making,
riddle solving and
kung-fu punctuation.
It was great to see
everyone enjoying it so
much and the round of
applause and thank-
yous at the end were a
very welcome surprise!

School Expansion
Update
Bit by bit the renovations to
the old building are
happening so that once the
building work is complete,
both old and new parts of the
school will be fantastic.
Over half term the Reception
classrooms had sections of
vinyl flooring fitted (so the
children can do as much
‘messy’ learning as they
want!) and brand new toilets
with delightful dinosaur
doors and easy to use trough
sinks.
In Year 1 our brand new
tables and chairs arrived to
add to all the other new
furniture, making them just
as good as the Year 2
classrooms.
Hockey – match report
On the 14th February a group of year 6s competed in a hockey
tournament which took place at the Play Football Arena. This was
the Birmingham Area Finals, following on from our success at the
Sutton event earlier in the year.
The team consisted of Harry, Greg, Francesca, Zoe, Joshua and Tom.
We won our first game 4-1. The positions were Greg in defence who
was substituted by Harry, Tom who was centre mid substituted by
Joshua and Francesca and Zoe were left centre mid and right centre
mid. Zoe scored 3 goals and Tom scored 1. The next game we played
well, winning 2-1 with Tom scoring 2 goals. After that match we drew
0-0. The next game would decide whether we were through or not.
Unfortunately we lost 4-3 in that match with Francesca scoring
alongside Tom and Zoe.
It turned out we scored enough to get through due to our goal
difference. In the semi-finals we managed to win 4-1 with Tom
scoring 2 goals and Zoe with the other 2.
In the final we were facing the team we had previously lost to in the
group stage, but we managed to succeed in the game with Tom
scoring 1 and Zoe scoring 1. It ended 2-0 to Maney we won the
tournament.
We would like to thank Mr Wigley and Miss Collister. We would also
like the other three children Poppy, Vincent and Danny who helped
us to get there in the first place.
