CONGRATULATIONS TO JANUARY GARMIN GPS WINNER RICHARD SAKHAROFF
“For the better part of almost 40 years in the insurance industry, I always held United American in my highest regard. It was always UA that commanded my greatest respect, as it was always my toughest competitor. Over the years, I watched my friends and former colleagues build a lifetime
of renewals with UA. It wasn’t until my retirement I thought ‘if you can’t beat’em, join’em!’ I made a call to the UA Home Office in Feb. 2012, and asked to speak directly with Chuck Mankamyer. Chuck took the time to listen and directed me to Ryan Sykes to arrange contracting of my Agency. Taking the plunge and jumping aboard UA was one of the smartest business decisions I had made in years. UA’s product line, Home Office support, and competitive rates are an Insurance Agent’s dream!”
INTEREST RATES SETThe Lifestyle Annuity rate for March 2013 is 3.00 percent. Rates are reviewed and adjusted accordingly.
The Deposit Fund Rider new business interest rate for 2013 is 3.00 percent.
ATTN UA AGENTS: CA, HI, NV, TN, VAUnited American has received approval for the $3,000 Accidental Death Policy (ADP) in California, Hawaii, Nevada, Tennessee, and Virginia. With the ADP, there is no premium due until the end of the first policy year. At that time, the policyholder pays a $10 premium to renew the policy for another year. This product enables Agents to offer valuable protection to their customers and help gain referrals. Download the Marketplace Bulletin for the ADP and take Brainshark online training (available 24/7) on the Agent website. There are no commissions paid for the ADP.
ATTN: ALL UA AGENTSNew editable reply cards have been designed to use as inserts with UA’s Turning 65 birthday letter. There are two designs from which Agents can choose. The cards have been approved for advertising in every state. Check them out in the UA AdCatalog!
WORDS OF WISDOM“It is easy to be pleasant when life flows by like a song, but the man worth while is the one who will smile when everything goes dead wrong. For the test of the heart is trouble, and it always comes with years, and the smile that is worth the praises of earth is the smile that shines through the tears.”
Irish Sayings
2 MARCH 2013
Charles Mankamyer Senior Vice President / General Agents
I love that Irish expression! It’s so positive and upbeat. You’ve probably heard another old Irish expression, “There’s a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.” Well, its validity is somewhat doubtful, but whether you take it literally or as a metaphor, it’s appropriate for what you can anticipate with Medicare Supplement sales.
There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow … the Senior rainbow. The prospect base for Medicare Supplement sales is great. With 10,000 people turning 65 every day in this country and becoming eligible for Medicare and a Medicare Supplement, your pot of gold should be full for many years to come.
But you can find your pot of gold in other places too! Both Seniors and those under age 65 are deeply concerned about the future of their healthcare, because both the immediate and long-term ramifications of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are still unknown. Will the cutbacks in Medicare be substantial? Will the Part A deductible and Part B annual premium skyrocket in the coming years? A Medicare Supplement from UA or First UA can help alleviate some of those concerns.
Under 65 Market Will employers for those under age 65 continue to offer employer-sponsored health coverage? Will their premiums skyrocket too? Will their deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance go through the roof? You can help provide a solution to some of these concerns with the Foundation Signature Series (MMGAP). This policy gives you a great reason to prospect group major medical policyholders, whom you may not have approached in the past. See page 5 for details.
Due to the unknowns related to the ACA, I believe the need for supplemental accident and health products will continue to increase in the years ahead, dramatically boosting the potential of the under age 65 market. But how do you take advantage of the amazing potential that’s available to you for both Seniors and under age 65? You increase your Agency’s ability to produce by vigorously recruiting and providing the highest quality leads available to those producers. My team and I will be on the road a lot in the coming months with live recruiting and training seminars to provide you the help you need to contract the best new Agents.
LeadsI believe a steady flow of high-quality leads can help attract and retain high-quality Agents. Nothing is more attractive to a potential recruit than a contract that potentially provides a neverending supply of quality leads. I believe UA’s lead contract is one of the best in the industry, because it can do just that. Fifteen percent of an Agent’s Net Annualized Issued Premium (NAIP) for health sales and 10 percent of their NAIP for life sales is put into a lead account from which funds can be withdrawn to order leads. There is a list of approved vendors on the Agent website and a PDF for download that provides a full explanation of the features and value of the lead program. We'll have more in a future issue of Summit about the importance of the lead contract and how it works to your advantage.
Final Expense Mailer Kramer Direct, one of our approved lead vendors, is offering a new Final Expense direct lead mailer. According to Kramer, when tested, the mailer drew double the response of traditional Final Expense mailers. A double response means your lead costs can be cut in half. If you want to increase your life sales, this could be the way to do it. Go to www.kramerdirect.com to learn more about this mailer and the many others Kramer Direct offers.
I’m excited by what I see already in 2013. Your enthusiasm for UA and First UA products confirms for me that 2013 has the potential to be outstanding for all of us. I look forward to seeing you at a seminar in the coming months and at The Roosevelt New Orleans in 2014 for Convention.
Top of the Morning to Ya!
There is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow … the Senior rainbow.

BRIDGE THE GAP
How Can Buying Additional Insurance Save Premium? This family of four saves $447 in monthly premium by raising its
group major medical deductible from $500 to $5,000 and purchasing an MMGAP policy.
$1,104: Group major medical monthly premium with $500 deductible
$507: Group major medical monthly premium with $5,000 deductible
+ $150: Foundation Signature Series monthly premium for $7,500 calendar-year benefit
$657: Total health insurance monthly premium ($507 for major medical and $150 for MMGAP)
Why Sell Foundation Signature Series? To combat rising insurance premiums, many people increase their deductibles. But when they suffer a loss, that deductible must be paid out-of-pocket. United American’s Foundation Signature Series (MMGAP), available for issue ages 0-63, is an innovative solution to help manage those out-of-pocket healthcare costs. It helps bridge the financial gap between what the customer’s major medical insurance pays and what the customer actually owes for an inpatient hospital stay.
What Does MMGAP Cover? The Foundation Signature Series helps pay out-of-pocket deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for inpatient hospital expenses up to the calendar-year maximum benefit for individuals with current or pending group major medical health insurance. Customers can select a calendar-year maximum benefit amount from $2,000 to $10,000, and an optional outpatient rider is also available.
A higher major medical deductible + Foundation Signature Series can:
1. Help pay out-of-pocket deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance (up to a calendar-year maximum).
2. Save your customer hundreds of premium dollars each month, while increasing coverage.
3. Free up financial resources to purchase additional insurance coverage if needed.
If you’re working mostly with Seniors selling Medicare Supplements, Foundation Signature Series is a great transition into the under age 65 market. Check your state’s Compliance Sheet for product availability and take the Foundation Signature Series Brainshark Training at UAOnline to get up to speed on this versatile product.
In addition to MMGAP, why not add life, accident, cancer, and critical illness to your active product portfolio too? Turn the page to learn more!

Are you financially prepared if the doctor
were to diagnose cancer?
Does your insurance coverage allow you the
freedom to choose how to treat your illness?
Now, more than ever, a cancer diagnosis brings with it an
amazing number of treatment options, in addition to more
traditional methods.
However, traditional health insurance plans may not offer
you the freedom to pursue nontraditional or controversial
treatments … or the choice not to seek treatment at all.
United American’s Cash Benefit Cancer Policy is a one-time benefit
supplemental policy for the first-time diagnosis of cancer only.
Choose a cash benefit amount up to $50,000 to be used in
whatever manner you see fit. Use it for any type of treatment
you and your doctor deem appropriate. Use it to help cover lost
wages, pay the mortgage or other bills. Use it to take your family
on a vacation, if you like.
THE COVERAGE
• Choice of lump-sum benefit amount: $10,000, $20,000, $30,000,
$40,000, and $50,000*
• Issue ages 0-69 (to 64 in CA); individual, single parent,
or family coverage
• Only health of applicant considered for eligibility – heredity
not an issue
• No physical exam required to qualify, just a few simple
health questions
• Premiums will not increase as you age, only on a class basis by state
• Guaranteed renewable coverage until insured’s one-time cash
benefit is paid
THE PAYOFF
• Pays the maximum benefit amount, as listed in the policy
schedule, up to $50,000* for first diagnosis of internal cancer or
malignant melanoma
• Pays in addition to any other insurance coverage you may have,
even at a government or VA facility
• The money comes directly to you and you decide how it’s spent —
all of it — upon written satisfactory proof of first-time diagnosis of
cancer while policy is in force
• There is no requirement for you to be hospitalized or receive
treatment following a cancer diagnosis in order to receive your
total cash benefit

Where will the money come from to pay for
your final expenses and obligations?
The death of a loved one is an emotionally stressful
time. Immediate financial obligations add to that stress.
Funerals rank among the most expensive purchases
many consumers will ever make. But funerals aren’t
the only expenses. Cemetery costs, medical bills, and
family living expenses also have to be considered.
The most logical reason to purchase life insurance is to
relieve your family from the burden of paying for your final
expenses when you die. But, it's not the only reason.
If you are no longer there to help support your family, how
will they pay the mortgage, car payments, or credit card bills?
If you have children, will their college tuition be in jeopardy?
A United American life insurance policy can help pay for
immediate final expenses, life’s other necessities, or even
provide a future nest egg for your children and grandchildren.
Planning today makes good financial sense – for people
of any age – and can help ease the financial burden
placed on your family when the inevitable happens.
You own the policy
The insurance policy is written to you as an individual and
is not tied to any affiliation with a group or association.
Your policy cannot be canceled
As long as your premiums are paid on time,
your policy cannot be canceled, regardless
of your age or changes in your health.
Purchasing life insurance
now helps ease the burden
of final expenses from your
loved ones later.

During a recent trip to Florida, Senior Vice President, Chuck Mankamyer, and Regional Director, Gary Owen, hosted a dinner at III Forks in Palm Beach Gardens. It was an
opportunity to get reacquainted with top UA producers, say “Thank you” for their loyalty and hard work, share sales stories, and get excited about the amazing possibilities in 2013.
“Good morning, Chuck. Thank you so much for a delightful dinner at III Forks. It brings back memories of ‘rubbing elbows’ with producers and the fun associated with sharing stories and good times. I enjoyed seeing others get excited as they listened to your enthusiastic sales ideas and the value in being a UA Agent. You are a master of your trade! I look forward to a big year in sales and recruiting for the Company.”
~ Bill Borosak
“Hi, Chuck. Dinner Friday night was excellent. I really enjoyed the company, the food, and the ambiance. Thanks so much to you and United American for the hospitality.”
~ Kerry Sachs
“It was a pleasure to attend this event and only affirmed why I sell UA. United American provides me the opportunity to offer my clientele the ‘Gold Standard’ in the Medicare Supplement market. As the only Company to pay lifetime renewals*, UA pays Agents to service policyholders year after year, which affords the opportunity to continually build client relationships. Clients feel confident referring others to my office.”
~ Chris Graham
“My experience with UA has been a special one. I’ve never worked with a company before that truly cares about its Agents and treats its Agents with the utmost respect and concern. UA has taken care of my clients better than any other company. It does what it says it will do courteously and promptly. Thank you, United American!”
~ Julia Gilels
“I was honored to be invited to share an evening with successful producers from my region and finally match their names with their faces. Along with Chuck and Gary, I enjoyed the camaraderie and the ideas we all shared. Our small group at the dinner table felt more like a family get together! I am very proud to represent United American.”
~ Richard D. Sakharoff
“Hi, Chuck. I just want to say ‘thank you’ again for the terrific evening. United American is fantastic to support its Agents in such a generous way. When Chris congratulated me this morning for being a winner in the December contest, I just had to reply that representing UA is what makes me a winner.”
