comeback with shows like The Weekend Update, The Colbert Report, and the Daily Show

Focus mainly on politics, religion, and social issues

Can be major tools during elections

Goals of Contemporary Satire

Many of same topics and approaches as in Twain’s era

Most shows are for viewer’s enjoymentBecome more popular as anger with

government increases
