DESCRIPTION

Marketing Stuff was a live presentation for the USF Digital media program that covered my (Brian Swanick's) background, how traffic is actualized and why it's important, useful web tools for marketers and job seekers, and how to explore life and getting hired with some useful advice that I've used in my own career. Even though it looks hideous, I still enjoyed the talk and putting it together :)

Part 1: Introductions & More● Some of my background info

● What do you want to be when you grow up?

● What's romantic about advertising?

Let's talk about jobs● What job are you shooting for? Future dream job?

● What concerns do you have about getting a job?

● What would you like me to cover?

Cold Hard Truth about Work

1. Prepare to do things you don't like doing.

2. Prepare to do things without training.

3. Start preparing yourself right now.

4. Never stop being a student.

What you need to know today:

Without traffic, you have nothing.

Really Buzz? Just get traffic? Yea, let's just get traffic. Cause that's so easy, right? C'mon!

Part 2: Traffic!Awesome on the web, not awesome in the morning

Interactive Example: Where do you get traffic? Go!

Interactive Time: Go Get Traffic!

● Find competitors! Where do they get traffic?○ Search some key terms○ Analyze their site○ Check terms for PPC○ Analyze their social media○ Analyze their backlink profile

Funnels: The Grown Up Kind● Multi-Channel Funnels ● The Sales Funnel

Part 4: Advice and More

If you listen to the advice of your guidance counselor, don't expect to get a job you like.

What can you put in your cover letter, opening email, and resume that will make you stand out?

You all have a story to tell, don't be afraid to tell it.

Part 4: Advice and More

Interviews can be terrible if you don't prepare.

Prepare for the hard stuff and the easy stuff.

What is the question behind the question?

If you're a commodity, you should need to figure out if they're the right fit for you.

Always follow up.

Part 4: Advice and More

Fall in love with doing the work and not the end goals.

Attitude and state of mind/being will keep you sane.

Treat people like they're your friend, even if they can't help you.

Just smiling when you greet people works wonders.

Be open to the things that you may not understand, you are adults but you have a long way to go before mastering your craft.

Part 4: Advice and More"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take"-Wayne Gretzky

Part 4: Advice and More"Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but don't nobody wanna lift no heavy a** weight." - Ronnie Coleman
