MARTINI Master Herbalist Works toward Sustainability

By Bacardi Cuba

Introduction

For more than 150 years, MARTINI has produced many of the world’s leading varieties of vermouth and Italian sparkling wine. The Bacardi brand employs a number of unique herbs and botanicals to craft its signature tastes, benefiting from the expertise of master herbalist Ivano Tonutti. Tonutti searches the world to locate quality botanical ingredients, including wild Tuscan juniper, orange peels sourced from Spain, and Moroccan rosebuds.

MARTINI

In seeking out the herbs that will contribute to MARTINI’s award-winning flavors, Tonutti partners only with trusted, sustainable agricultural operations.

MARTINI works to form a lasting positive relationship with each farmer and strives to ensure that no resources go to waste during the beverage production process

Conclusion

Each year, the company forms leftover botanical matter into approximately 200 tons of briquettes for use as livestock bedding and compost. By returning these resources to the environment, Tonutti, MARTINI, and Bacardi Limited pursue their goal of creating a fully sustainable production cycle.
